“Look people are suffering, and when people are suffering, that is not when you will introducing new things and policies”

Mr Pianim

He added that this is the first time he has seen such unprecedented hardships being visited on Ghana. He emphazied that the crisis can result in violence.

Ghana’s economy has been going through severe challenges, a situation the government has consistently blamed on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

IMF Deal Not Going On Well

The Economist disclosed that the negotiation between government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is not going well.

He added that what the IMF is waiting for, is a bold and credible pronouncement by the President as he did during the time of covid.

“The IMF negotiation is not going on well. I know this for a fact. The President should come out to say; there is nothing I wouldn’t do to stabilize the economy of the country.”

Kwame Pianim

Mr Pianim further stated that the Finance Minister, Hon Ken Ofori Atta is not a credible representative for the government in the negotiation.

“Ken Ofori Atta is not a credible messenger; somebody who didn’t want to take in this route, how can you say he should lead it.”

Kwame Pianim

He urged Mr Ken Ofori Atta to save Ghanaians from additional misery by stepping down and allowing someone who is much competent to take over.

He however asked the government to act immediately to tackle the situation in order to avert a possible violence.
