Pheelz Explains How The Church Influenced His Career Choice

Pheelz

Nigerian producer and Afrobeats singer Pheelz has revealed how the church influenced his decision to become a musician.

Like many great artists, Pheelz’s love for his art started at a tender age.

The producer and singer brought this revelation to light during the latest episode of a TV program.

Pheelz said his decision to become a musician came at the age of five after he witnessed a choir performance at a church.

“I have always seen myself on stage, that’s the one thing I was sure about from 5. Because I got my first introduction into music when I was five and that was my first encounter in church”.

The ‘Finesse’ crooner said that the emotional impact of the songs is what drew his interest in the art, and he immediately knew that was what he wanted to do.

In his words, he said;

“You know churches in Nigeria, we have the children’s church and we have the adult church. So that was my first time in the adult church and I wasn’t even on the stage. I just walked into the adult church and saw the choir singing and the way it had an impact on people’s emotions. How some people would cry, and some people would roll on the floor. It was a crazy scene to see for a five-year-old. From there I was like I wanna do this, this is what I wanna do”.

Pheelz

Pheelz is a decorated Afrobeats producer. The 27-year-old started his shift from producing to singing last year when he released ‘Hear Me Out,’ his debut EP.

His 2022 joint single “Finesse” with BNXN gives him another suitable transitional route as Warner Records signed him soon after the song’s release.

The talented singer and producer Pheelz was on an interview for the first time and they had an interesting conversation about his career as a singer and among others.

He was asked by the interviewer if he thinks ‘Finesse’ is the song of the summer.

According to him, most artists will go all gun blazing chanting how big the BNXN-assisted record is, but he, Pheelz didn’t care about that.

Adding that he doesn’t care about competitions; he just wants to create “timeless music”.

“To be very honest, I don’t care if ‘Finesse’ is the song of the year”.

Pheelz

Pheelz responds to the interviewer’s question by explaining how grateful he is for the inspiration of the viral song “Finesse”.

It’s no denying how big a jam like “Finesse” is and how it changed the life of Pheelz, the artist who has been on different tours, with different artists, including Usher. He explained how he linked up with Usher and the experience of sharing the stage with Usher at the “Global Citizen Festival”.
