Rev. Dr Lawrence Tetteh

Rev. Dr Lawrence Tetteh, an international evangelist, has called for unity and selflessness from the leaders of the country and the entire citizenry to help steer the country out of its current crisis.

The evangelist opined that Ghana needed what he described as a “massive united front”. He disclosed that the lack of partisanship, unity and selfish narrow-minded interests were seriously affecting national unity and development, and the ability to resolve the various challenges facing the nation.

“Ghana is not about the NPP and the NDC alone. When the government is doomed, the entire nation is doomed. We should come together and create a platform where we all contribute to the success of this country.

“We all have a collective responsibility to help this country succeed. We can build this country when we are united with a common purpose.”

Dr Lawrence Tetteh

Speaking in an interview, The international evangelist who doubles as an economist revealed that, the development of the country has been hindered by the ‘winner-takes-all’ syndrome, where those who are not part of the governing party are left out of the key governance system.

This, the Man of God said, has propagated an unnecessary clamour for political power and unhealthy partisanship and further made it difficult for the country to make use of the expertise of people outside the political circle for national development.

“Winner-takes-all is really undermining the strength of our nation. The NDC only sees corruption when it is in opposition; the same as the NPP. We must know that governance is a collective thing; otherwise, we will get things wrong.”

Good leadership

Commenting on what leaders across all fields should do in the New Year ino rder to make the country a safe and better place to be, Rev Tetteh opined that leaders must heed pieces of advice, even if they are criticisms.

Constructive criticisms, according to the economist, even if unpleasant, could help leaders know the mistakes that their supporters would fail to point out to them. “In the multitude of counsel, there is safety. When we take advice from people, even if it is criticism, it helps us learn. Leadership is listening, taking charge and taking responsibility,” he stated.

The Man of God noted that, from the clergy to the media and to the political class, “we all need to take responsibility. If we shirk our responsibility and play the blame game, we will lose sight of what we have to do.”

Rev. Dr Lawrence Tetteh is a Ghanaian tele-evangelist, philantropist, international economists and founding President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach with its international headquarters based in London.

The economist attended the Corvinus University of Budapest of Economics Sciences in Hungary and the London School of Economics (LSE) in the United Kingdom. As he was pursuing his PHD Programme in International Relations at Corvinus, he was ordained a Reverend Minister by Dr T .L. Osborn and Archbishop Benson Idahosa in the United Kingdom.
