Celebrities To Pay Last Respects To Christian Atsu Today

Christian Atsu goes home today

This morning, a number of mourners will throng the forecourt of the State House where the burial service and final funeral rites of the late Christian Atsu will hold.

As expected, a number of high-profile personalities in the entertainment industry, and sports icons including active and retired footballers and government officials who commiserated with the family at the one-week observation will also be in attendance.

It was indeed a visibly emotional atmosphere at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf in Accra on Saturday, March 4, when the one-week observation of the late Christian Atsu Twasam was held.

Among the number of entertainment personalities spotted by Graphic Showbiz at the ceremony was the CEO of EIB Network, Nathaniel Adisi Anokye popularly known as Bola Ray, Christabel Ekeh, Kwesi Arthur, Lydia Forson, Grace Ashley, and Nigeria’s Patoranking among others.

Also, former Black Stars players including Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, and Kwadwo Asamoah were present to support the family in these devastating moments.

Christian Atsu, 31, met his untimely death in Turkey when he was caught up in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake which occurred on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Atsu was residing in an apartment in Hatay city which suffered huge damages during the quake.

A part of the tribute from the wife reads:

“Lying before me today is the mortal remains of a beloved father and husband. I knew little that morning that God is going to call you home. In life, I love you dearly. In death, I do the same. It breaks my heart to lose you.

“You didn’t go alone, for part of me went with you. Your love is still my guide and though I cannot see you, you are always by my side. You were always full of life, you seemed immortal”.

Some dignitaries expected to attend Christian Atsu’s funeral

Prominent personalities are expected to attend the final funeral rites of late Ghanaian international, Christian Atsu who would be laid in state at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra on March 17, 2023.

With the burial rites of the late Ghanaian international footballer which comes off today are expecting some dignitaries and personalities at the funeral.

President Akufo-Addo, the first gentleman of the land is expected to pay tribute to the former Ghana international footballer. The president has been involved in the planning process of the funeral till today.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia received the mortal remains of Christian Atsu after it was flown to Ghana. He is also expected to be at the funeral after promising that the state will give the late player a befitting burial.

Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, is one of the high-profile dignitaries expected to be at the funeral of the late Ghanaian international footballer.

As the final club and country Christian Atsu played, representatives of Hatayspor Football Club and members of the Turkish Embassy are expected to also attend the burial rites of the player.

In addition, Mubarak Wakaso, one of the closest friends of Christian Atsu, might be in Ghana to pay his final respect to his good friend at the State House.

Other individuals and groups expected to attend the funeral include; Members of the diplomatic community; Reps from the Ghana Football Association; Professional Footballers Association; Ghana Premier League Clubs; Ex-convicts bailed by Christian Atsu; Orphanages sponsored by Christian Atsu; Movie Stars among others.
