A three-member delegation from Bank Centrale Des Etats De l’afrique de L’quest (BCEAO) has met the leadership of the Ghana International Trade and Finance (GITFIC) ahead of the 7th conference.

The Chief Executive Officer of GITFIC, Mr Selasi Koffi Ackom, in a statement, said the meeting was at the request of GITFIC to brief the Bank on the upcoming 7th Conference and discuss the themes, seek the Bank’s participation at the highest level, and officially present copies of the AfCFTA books. The meeting also discussed other critical issues on Africa’s Free Trade Era and the strategic continental payment project.

The statement noted that the one-hour meeting was successful and promising as BCEAO was one of the key participants of the 5th Conference, where tactical issues on the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System was discussed.

The statement added that the BCEAO was expected to join other colleagues to lead the conversation at the 7th Conference, which would be held at the Royal SENCHI Hotel & Resort in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The 7th conference on prospects on Africa’s Single Currency on the theme; Sovereign Economic Vulnerabilities; An Endorsement for a Single Trading Currency for Africa – with ECOWAS as a case study.

“Another topic would be Trade and Healthy Investment on the theme; Actualising Africa’s Industralisation Agenda in the era of the AfCFTA; The Role of Africa’s Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, a Review of the Implementation of the AfCFTA; Towards an African Centered AfCFTA Disputes.”

The statement further stated that key stakeholders from strategically selected Public and Private Sector Institutions across the African Continent would gather for the conference on the above and append signatures to declare their commitments for a Single Trading Curren on the African Continent in support of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The GITFIC 2023 conference would discuss three well researched topics and would be crowned with a continental declaration on a single currency and shall be known as the Senchi Declaration On Africa’s Single Currency In Support Of The Implementation Of The African Continental Free Trade Area.

The statement said the conference would for the first time assume the shape of Business Tourism and would offer dignitaries and delegates a relaxed environment with tourism activities as specified on the registration portal.

The 7th Conference will be attended by H.E Albert Muchanga, who expected to lead a delegation from the African Union and all Economic blocs to deliver a Keynote Address.

Other panel-dignitaries expected include; Governor of Central Bank, Central Africa. Governor of Central Bank West Africa, Director General of the West African Monetary Institutes, WAEMU, Presidents and Chairperson of Regional Trade blocs amongst a tall list of others.
