Singer-songwriter Kofi Peprah has said that paying serious attention to the music business is good.

According to him, someone who prints the Bible is not selling the message of the Bible, but rather the packaging of the message is what is for sale.

He explained:

“You bought leaves [papers], ink, and did binding which was not for free but came at a cost”.

The gospel musician said that it is quite different from an instance where God has laid it on the seller’s heart to give the Bible out for free.

He stressed:

“God who instructed you to do that will also provide for you in that case”.

Kofi Peprah said it is a similar case for Gospel musicians taking a fee for their service.

He noted:

“As an artist, you have to think about the music business because when you go to the studio to record a song – nowadays, the music production is so expensive – and there are music videos and all that.

“These audio recordings and videos are important because it is not possible to always have Kofi Preprah perform live”.

Kofi Peprah

He further noted:

“The video producer and director, excuse me to say, do not work with us for free.

“So anything we can also get to push, pay for these services and support the work, is greatly appreciated”.

Kofi Peprah

He asserted that the quality of music and videos comes at a cost and is important because it is meant to attract buyers or audiences and get them to attentively listen to the message of the song.

However, he strongly admonished Gospel musicians not to prioritize the business aspect of their work at the expense of their service to God and fellow humans.

Also, he encouraged his audience by saying:

“Stream the songs of Gospel musicians as they upload them on digital stores – it’s part of the business – and when you stream, we also get some amount to push and support the ministry”.

Singer Kofi Peprah cautioned fellow Gospel artists against prioritizing the music business at the expense of their call to serve God and their fellow human beings.

He stressed:

“Never do that. If you are diligent with God’s work, he will send you helpers and even people to invest in you”.

Kofi Peprah

Minding how the music business works efficiently as a Gospel musician, he noted, is important so one doesn’t go about telling false prophecies to trick people into giving one money.

He noted that, as per his experience, some investors expect returns.

He cited:

“A program of mine for which someone expressed interest to invest but said I should return the money he gives me so we can fetch from it for another program at another time.

“So that’s the business aspect. You have to find a way to get the money back”.

Kofi Peprah

Due to this, Peprah said, it is usual for him to ask people who book him to pay something small to help his budget so he can also save some money.

The ‘Matwen Awurade Anim’ hitmaker argued that it is not the message of the Gospel people must pay for but the things that make its presentation possible.

The Gospel singer also impressed his audience with the importance of supporting music makers.

Adding that recording music and putting out quality music videos is expensive and the services it demands all come at a cost.

Kofi Peprah revealed he started music “professionally and commercially” in 2018.
