My Relationship With Delegates Is Going To Change Face Of Politics- NPP Flagbearer Hopeful

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kwadwo Poku.

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kwadwo Poku, has expressed confidence in his chances of winning the party’s super delegates conference to select a flagbearer to represent the party in the 2024 elections.

According to him, his campaign in the lead-up to the election scheduled for tomorrow, August 26, is enough groundwork undertaken by him to receive the approval of delegates. He revealed that his down to earth approach by interacting with the grassroots has endeared him to the people.

“I have built a certain level of relationship with delegates, and that relationship for me is going to change the face of politics in this country. Politics of where you use and dump, I am changing that. I am changing that whereby I am building a relationship and family with these delegates where it’s not only do I know them, they also know me.

“So, there’s a two-way communication at all times among delegates… I’m probably the only candidate who is on most of the NPP platforms – not through agents or reps and I’m always interacting with these people on the platforms. So, there’s a new sense of politics coming…”

Kwadwo Poku

Mr Poku stated that interaction with delegates have revealed deep-seated frustrations over the happenings in the country. He explained that due to the disposition of the grassroots, the party is in need of somebody with ideas, one that understands the economy and the energy sector to restore hope to the people.

“These grassroots sit there; they do the work and door-to-door, and they are deeply upset. So, let’s not undermine the temperature and feelings of the people at the grassroots. Anybody that takes that for granted and thinks that the elite in the party are going to determine the next leader of the party, anybody who inference from that, has the next thing coming.”

Polls conducted by Global InfoAnalytics

Meanwhile, the NPP flagbearer hopeful criticized some statistics put forth by Global InfoAnalytics, insisting that it does not reflect the mood of the grassroots. He emphasized that the information churned by InfoAnalytics does not in any way affect him because “I think I’ve done the work that I need to do, and we just have to wait for the delegates to prove us right that we’ve done the work”.

“One thing I can tell you for sure is that Global InfoAnalytics is citing their rumors again. Come tomorrow evening, those guys should not be allowed to publish anything in this country again. Global InfoAnalytics are just guys who just basically are paid gangs to sit in their rooms and write whatever they want. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe they have a voodoo that could conjure things but I’m telling you that what they put out there is completely wrong. Look there are margins of error in statistics, and they are way out of their margin of error to look at what is going on as we have it today and put those numbers as they have done. The picture is that we aren’t going to have a runaway winner.”

Kwadwo Poku

Moreover, Mr Poku underscored that tomorrow’s election is going to be a very “competitive game”. This, he stated, is because people are discounting the reality on the ground thinking that it doesn’t matter, whereas it does.

“The NPP party is in government but there are people within the party that feel far away from government. So, for people to think that all is well, and they are going to see certain individuals get certain huge numbers because they are the ones most known – tomorrow, let’s wait and see. Statistically, 955 delegates, cannot be a representation of 230,000 because it’s not even 1% of the bigger number on November 4… If someone gets upward of 60% of that number, nobody should read meaning into it that because that person got over 60% of the 955, it’s a representation of what the person is going to get in the 230,000.”
