The Director of Communication for Alan 4 President (A4P) Campaign Team, Yaw Boaben Asamoa has revealed that his boss, Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen is very committed to Agenda 2030.

He also noted that Mr. Alan Kyerematen has since 1996 been very diligent and will forever uphold such traits.

“In 1996, the Young Executive Forum wanted him to be the President; they were then the powerful house in the New Patriotic Party and he was their Chair, but he waited for President Kufour to go ahead and did the same for President Akuffo Addo during the Legon Conference in 2007 after he was to go for a run-off with Nana Akuffo Addo, he voluntarily conceded to defeat to Nana Akuffo Addo”

Mr. Asamoa further emphasized that Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is a very distinguished man, a great diplomat who has keen and exemplary records of serving the country through the New Patriotic Party and he can be associated with several pragmatic and innovative policies that the New Patriotic Party has pursued under the 4th Republic.

Meanwhile, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School and Political Marketing Consultant, Professor Kobby Mensah has suggested that a decision by Mr. Alan Kyerematen to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections would be the best thing to ever happen to Ghana.

Professor Kobby Mensah thinks that since the 4th Republic, the third force, the country has had does not carry the weight to have made a significant impact in the successive elections and argued that Mr Kyerematen’s decision to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 election would strategically change the path of the country.

The independent candidacy of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, according to Professor Kobby Mensah, would significantly harm the chances of the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming election. The New Patriotic Party should thus address the issues brought up by Alan Kyerematen and other flagbearer candidates both before and after the super delegates conference, he suggested.

Alan Withdraws from NPP Presidential Primaries

On Tuesday night, Mr. Alan Kyerematen declared his withdrawal from the NPP’s flagbearer election, citing several factors.

He gave several reasons for his choice, including intimidation, violence against a member of his campaign staff, and the way the party allegedly planned the super delegates meeting to favour one candidate over the others.

Mr. Kyerematen claimed that statements made by several influential party members both before and after the elections support his findings.

“After having carefully analyzed the results of the said elections, it is absolutely clear to me from events leading to, during and after the elections, that the Special Delegates Conference was strategically and tactically skewed in favor of one particular Aspirant.”

In addition, Mr. Kyerematen emphasized that he was not confident the situation he had mentioned would not continue or even worsen during the election on November 4. As a result, he confirmed that he was honorably withdrawing from the process leading up to the presidential primaries that will take place on November 4, 2023.

He also said that in the next weeks, after consulting with his family, other well-wishers, different stakeholders, and interest groups, he will indicate the role he will play in politics in Ghana.
