Kwakye Ofosu Jabs Alan Kyerematen For Attacking NDC And Mahama

Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency in the Central Region, has criticized Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen for claiming that the opposition party lacks alternative policy proposals.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, a former deputy minister of communications in the John Dramani Mahama government, responded to Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s allegations by stating that numerous policies that needed to be implemented were detailed in several speeches by the former president.

According to Mr Ofosu Kwakye, even the pledges made by Mr Kyerematen on Monday, September 25, when he announced his resignation and intention to run as an independent in the 2024 elections were a rehash of Mr Mahama’s promises.

He cited Mr Mahama as having pledged, among other things, to cut the size of the already “bloated” government to under 50 ministries, abolish ex gratia, implement constitutional and institutional reforms, and more.

“Mr Mahama has said he will restore stability to the macro-economy, he will tackle job creation and ensure that the economy is managed prudently and that national resources are used in an equitable and judicious manner. These and many other things are contained in the various speeches that Mr. Mahama has delivered.”

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu lamented the fact that Mr. Kyerematen seemed to be acting like an NPP member despite claiming to have left the party.

“I am not sure that Ghanaians have the appetite anymore for the deceptive rhetoric and politicking of the NPP who Mr. Kyerematen says he has left. So one is surprised that he continues to conduct himself in ways that mimic NPP’s behaviour. That’s very surprising.”

The Political Aide to former President John Mahama further admonished Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to leave behind any NPP traits as he has resigned from the party to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 General Elections.

He noted that members of the New Patriotic Party have the tendency of telling lies and Mr Alan Kyerematen should not still habit such behaviors.

“I thought that having declared his stance as leaving the NPP to contest as an independent candidate, he would leave some of the NPP traits behind because they have the tendency of looking truth in the face and blinking and saying something that is in complete variance with the truth.”

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team is pleading with Alan Kyerematen and his followers to support the Assin Central Member of Parliament in the New Patriotic Party National Delegates Congress on November 4.

Sammy Crabbe, a member of the Ken for President Campaign Team, advised Alan’s fans to back Kennedy Agyapong in an interview with journalists in Accra.

“Politics is about numbers, and we count numbers at the end of the day to win. So of course it should concern us, it should concern Ken as the flagbearer going into December 2024. We must try as much as possible to organise everyone. If you join Alan’s and Ken’s votes together, Bawumia will be defeated.”

Sammy Crabbe

The Campaign Team also mentioned that the withdrawal of Mr Kyerematen from the race and his subsequent resignation from the NPP should signal that all is not well within the party.
