Popular Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei has gone hard on political leaders for not seeing to the wellbeing of the people.

In a Twitter(X) post recently, Prince revealed that the leaders have neglected their responsibilities to serve the people, citing greed, arrogance, and pride as factors clouding their judgment.

He noted that the situation has greatly contributed to the suffering of the less fortunate.

“Those in positions of power appear to have forgotten the responsibility they have to serve the people. Greed, arrogance, and pride have clouded the judgment of our leaders, while the less fortunate continue to suffer without any accountability.” he wrote.

The actor further stated that the future of the country appears to be uncertain due to the high rate of corruption.

“Sadly, it seems that nobody cares anymore. Government properties are misused and abused simply because they belong to the state. This is a distressing situation to witness. The future of our beloved country appears uncertain, with corruption infiltrating every level of society, from the church to the government and beyond,” he expressed.

Even though corruption in Ghana is relatively low compared to other countries in Africa, businesses frequently quote corruption as an obstacle to doing business in the country.

Despite government efforts to quell corruption, local elites take advantage of limited transparency and accountability to take control of community natural resources for their personal financial benefit.

Due to high levels of corruption incidents in Ghana, some activists like Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Martin Amidu, Nana Akwasi Awuah, Bright Simmons, and Elizabeth Akua Ohene among others have dedicated time, money, and other resources to fight and curb corruption.

People Resorting To Insults When Expressing Their Opinions

Prince David Osei voiced his concern over the growing culture of people resorting to insults when expressing their opinions about issues.

In a recent Twitter (X) post, the ‘Open Scandal’ actor decried the disturbing trend of using insults and disrespectful language to address issues in the country.

He asserted that insults have become the norm when expressing opinions, particularly among the younger generation, who openly insult leaders on various platforms, including radio, television, and social media.

“I am deeply concerned about the future of Ghana. It pains me to see how we have become a nation of insults, lacking respect for morals. The younger generation finds it acceptable to insult leaders openly on various platforms such as radio, television, and social media. It seems that insults have become the preferred method of expressing opinions,” he wrote.

The actor also expressed concern about the youth, who he believes are becoming misguided and desperate in their pursuit of wealth, resorting to various means that may not be ethical.

Prince David Osei urged Ghanaians to take action and be the change they wish to see in their country and similarly called for a collective effort to renew minds and strive for individual change.

“It is imperative that we take action and become the change we wish to see. Let us renew our minds and strive for individual change. We must remember that Ghana belongs to all of us, not just a select few,” Prince David Osei said.

It can be recalled that ace broadcaster, Kwame Sefa Kayi registered his displeasure with how young Ghanaians now take solace in disrespecting their elders by way of insulting them on social media. According to him, the shameful attitude of Netizens must stop.

Some celebrities who are also known as gatekeepers in society take delight in exchanging insulting words among themselves which is unacceptable because the youth look up to them and are known to be role models.
