The opposition National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidates for Agona West in the Central Region, Ernestina Ofori Dangbey, has accused the Member of Parliament of the Constituency for slacking in the discharge of her mandate.
Addressing the media on Thursday, October 26, 2023, after the launch of ‘so mu bi’, a platform dedicated to sensitization and awareness creation, the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for the Agona West Constituency criticized the Member of Parliament, Cynthia Mamle Morrison for her poor performance in terms of development to improve upon the standard of living and conditions of life of the constituents.
She noted that the Member of Parliament for the Constituency has performed woefully since her election into office in 2016 both in the area of road infrastructure, healthcare, and education among others adding that constituents have been denied access to these basic things for a long time.
Ernestina Ofori Dangbey, the Parliamentary candidate further asserted that it was under the National Democratic administration during the former President, John Dramani Mahama era that the majority of the infrastructure within the Agona West constituency was undertaken.
“The Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison has failed the people of this constituency. We cannot boast of simple basic amenities. Our road network is bad, for healthcare, the least said the better. Most of what you see in this constituency was done by the National Democratic Congress under John Dramani Mahama. This government says the government is not all about development but I want to tell them that development matters in nation-building”.

PC Urges Supporters To Join Party’s Mobilization Effort
Moreover, the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for the Agona West Constituency urged the supporters of the party to fully join the sensitization and awareness campaign launched by the party in the constituency to promote the National Democratic Congress in the constituency.
She also urged the party supporters to take advantage of the party’s campaign and talk about the issues happening in the constituency.
“It is obvious that the current happenings within the constituency are not the best. But I know for sure that come 2024 victory will be mine. I will unseat the incumbent MP for the area. All her promises to the constituency have failed and the reason why we are bringing “so mu be” as a means to educate constituents to make informed choices”.

The National Democratic Congress Central Region Secretary, Gabriel Nii Commey Adams who graced the occasion indicated that the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Agona West Constituency stands a higher chance of winning the seat in the 2024 general elections.
He noted that one of the major mistakes that the National Democratic Congress made ahead of 2020 election was its inability to unify the party in the constituency and asserted that going into the 2024 general elections, the party would put appropriate measures in place to address any such development when they arise.
He also expressed confidence in the party’s parliamentary candidates for the constituency and argued that the parliamentary candidate’s ability to relate well with the grassroots would be a force to reckon with in the 2024 general elections.
“The NPP MP has done little and it’s a known fact that she will lose the elections in 2023. The history of this constituency is on the side of the NDC and it’s a known fact that anytime an NDC person becomes an MP there is development in Agona West.”
