NPP And NDC Dominance Under Attack As Alan Makes A Case For A Third Force

The leader of Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo John Kyerematen has called on Ghanaians to break the dominance of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress in Ghana’s political landscape and vote for him to steer the affairs of the country.

The former Trade and Industry Minister under the current New Patriotic Party expressed doubt about the manifestation of the New Patriotic Party agenda of breaking the eight due the non-performance of President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

Mr Kyerematen noted that majority of Ghanaians are very disappointed in the leadership of President Akufo-Addo as his government has failed to address the numerous challenges the country faces.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party mantra of breaking the eight does not resonate with the pressing concerns of most Ghanaians, particularly regarding economic challenges and unemployment.

“Well, the emerging chorus and narrative from the Party for ‘Unity’ to Break the Eight, has very little relevance to the loud public demand for change in the political leadership of our country, to respond to the critical challenges of our time. The call to Break the Eight does not reflect the everyday concerns of the majority of Ghanaians, about the ailing economy and the lack of jobs for the teeming youth of Ghana.”

Again, the former presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party chastised the opposition National Democratic Congress for lacking the credibility to be the alternative to the New Patriotic Party.

He thus urged Ghanaians to consider him as a viable force and vote for him in the 2024 general election to spearhead the development of the country.

“So for me, the chances of NPP Breaking the Eight is very slim. In the same vein, however, the NDC does not provide a credible alternative. It is against this background, that the ever-increasing appetite of Ghanaians for a ‘Third Force’, must be considered as the only hope for Ghana to rise again. This is where the newly established Movement for Change under my leadership, becomes the saving grace for Ghana.”

Moreover, the founder and leader of Movement for Change stated that the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the New Patriotic Party presidential primaries on Saturday, November 4 2023 was widely anticipated, indicating that the electoral process was strategically schemed towards a specific candidate.

Mr Kyerematen also emphasized that the presidential election results must also be analyzed against the background that the Vice President campaigned for the New Patriotic Party flagbearership race since 2020, as well as being a beneficiary of both ‘State and Party, sponsored support’.

He thus questioned the popularity of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasizing that the Vice President’s 60% vote share, though substantial indicates a lack of command over the ruling New Patriotic Party.

“Judging from the widely publicized expected margin of not less than 80% in favour of the Vice President, I am inclined to think that the 60% vote for him provides a clear indication that the Vice President does not have total control of his own Party”.

Meanwhile, former Interior Minister, Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu, has discounted arguments that the Vice President and New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would have difficulties in winning votes in the traditional southern part of the country.

According to the former Yendi legislator, the Vice President’s performance in the New Patriotic Party presidential election in areas such as the Ashanti Region gives a great indication that the Vice President has a superior command to garner votes and lead the party to victory in 2024 general elections.
