Mahama’s Aide Accuses Government Of Fueling Demonstration Targeted At Mahama’s  Residence

Joyce Bawah Mogtari

Joyce Bawah Mogtari , the Special Aide to the Former President of the Republic of Ghana and the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama has expressed her revulsion against the ‘Fixing The Country Movement’ ‘aborted’ planned demonstration and picketing targeted at the residence of the former President in Cantonment, Accra.

In a statement released on Friday, November 24 2023, the Special Aide to Mr Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari indicated that the ‘needless’ aborted picketing targeted at the Former President’s residence was ‘designed’ to divert attention from the mismanagement of the economy and its attendant public’s ‘frustration’ with the high costs of living, which has led to the dissatisfaction of several Ghanaians due to the daily reports and evidence of ‘high-level’ of corruption under the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the  New Patriotic Party’s administration.

According to the Special Aide to the Former President, it is an undisputed fact that Mr Mahama has never been accused of, or investigated for, any involvement or wrongdoing of any sort by either the United Kingdom government or the United States of America authorities about the Airbus scandal.

She further asserted that neither the government of Ghana nor any other authority anywhere in the world has been able to produce any evidence of wrongdoing against Mr Mahama in the Airbus scandal.

“It is most regrettable that amid the excruciating hardship and the suffering brought upon Ghanaians by the NPP government, they would rather find it necessary to dabble in bizarre and inexplicable antics over a so-called Airbus matter, which has long been laid to rest and over which Mr Mahama has absolutely no questions to answer”.

Again, Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari recounted that the ‘Serious Fraud Office’ of the United Kingdom has even announced its ‘discontinuation’ of the entire Airbus case due to lack of evidence.

She stressed that there was no breach of the country’s procurement laws or any other law in the processes leading to the purchase of the aircraft under reference.

According to her, verifiable information available proved that due to the thorough and diligent negotiations that were done by the officials of the Ghana Armed Forces’ Technical Negotiating Team at the time of the purchase of the aircrafts, the aircrafts were purchased at a price lower than the prevailing market price at the time.

Mahama Commits To Engage Ghanaians On His Plans To Revive Ghana’s Economy

Moreover, Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari emphasized that Former President John Dramani Mahama remains focused on engaging the people of Ghana on his plans to revitalize the country’s economy to create more opportunities and decent well-paying jobs in a ‘24-hour economy’ for the teaming unemployed youth in the country as well as all citizens of Ghana.

According to Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections is very keen to carry out ‘far-reaching’ governance reforms which will include ‘anti-corruption’ and major ‘constitutional reforms’ to meet the aspirations and expectations of the citizens of Ghana.

“Mr Mahama will not be distracted by the NPP or any political shenanigans”.

Additionally, Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari conveyed Former President John Dramani Mahama’s gratitude and appreciation to his sympathizers, all citizens, particularly the Greater Accra Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for the love, support, and commitment it showed to defend his ‘strong and incorruptible character” amidst the Fixing The Country Movement planned demonstration which was targeted at his residence.

“Ayekoo to the young people including women who converged at the Cantonments office on Thursday to solidarise with John Mahama in the face of what was a misguided attempt by elements sponsored by the leadership of the NPP to picket around the office. Mr Mahama also notes that the Ministry of National Security decided to intervene and stop the advertised picketing”.
