In a bold declaration, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has expressed his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the will of the Ghanaian people in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Speaking during his Building the Ghana Tour at Dzodze in the Volta Region,  former President John Dramani Mahama emphasized that the determination of the election winner will unfold at the polling stations and collation centers, not in the Supreme Court.

Mr Mahama exuded confidence in winning the December elections, asserting that there should be no need to contest the results in the in the law court.

“I’m not going to the Supreme Court because I know I’m not going to lose, maybe that person will be going to the Supreme Court. The election is going to be decided at the polling station and the collation center, and that’s where the NDC is going to be. We won’t go to the Supreme Court again because we know we won’t get justice.

“We are going to police this election, and it is going to be the best-policed election in the history of Ghana, and we are going to follow the results every step of the way until the final result is declared”.

Mahama Vows To Prosecute Persons Involved In Corrupt Activities

In another significant pronouncement, former President John Dramani Mahama warned that his next administration would prosecute any person involved in corruption or corruption-related activities.

Expressing concern about the unchecked and rampant corruption across the country, he accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of having no desire to address the issue, mainly because some of its members were allegedly involved in corrupt activities.

Mr Mahama further cautioned members of the opposition National Democratic Congress who shall  be elected or appointed to public offices under his administration to eschew any habit of corruption, stating that they would also face consequences if engaged in corrupt practices.

“So I have said if they can’t deal with it, when we come, we will deal with it for them. When NDC comes, we will hold those who have misconducted themselves accountable. Those of us who go into positions of authority, if you also abuse your trust, I’m not going to come and defend you. The anti-corruption institutions will deal with you as we are going to deal with members of this [NPP] government.

In addition, the National  Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, Mr Mahama accused the ruling New Patriotic Party of neglecting fisher folks and farmers, alleging that executives and supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party have hoarded, used, and in some instances sold inputs meant for production to their benefit, accumulating wealth in the process.

He cited instances of outboard motors, premix fuel for fishermen, and fertilizers for farmers being kept by party chairmen and smuggled out of the country for profits.

Mr Mahama therefore pledged to address such activities if voted into office, pointing to the National Democratic Congress’s proven track record under the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, who established landing committees to benefit fisher folks.
