Nana Yaa Brefo Speaks On Angel FM Exit

Nana Yaa Brefo

Ghanaian media personality, Nana Yaa Brefo, has disclosed reasons for her abrupt departure from Angel Broadcasting Network.

Nana Yaa Brefo, who currently works with Onua FM, said she wasn’t allowed to freely operate.

According to her, although she wasn’t gagged, she simply did not feel the satisfaction that comes with her job.

“It’s about the urge to do who you are, in a particular space and that wasn’t coming. It’s like no matter what, you don’t get the satisfaction. You want to relate with the people, you want to speak about the happenings in Ghana freely and at a particular point in time but no. You are a morning person; you want to do morning and so on. If these things are not coming, you want to move on. Not gag, per se, I just want me,” she expressed.

According to Nana Yaa Brefo, she left Angel FM not because of money, but the cowardice of her former boss, Doctor Kwaku Oteng.

She claims Doctor Kwaku Oteng stopped her from doing many things because of his cowardice.

She stated that she wanted to work so well that at the end of the day, she could satisfy not only her listeners but herself as well as her bosses but she never got that opportunity.

She also recounted how her former employers tried all means to influence her resignation.

“They were not happy, they tried to speak to me about it. On the first December when I presented my resignation, we talked. They tried to get me to rescind my decision, got my colleagues involved and all that but I think I had already moved on,” she further added.

When asked if her new home, Media General, has met her expectations so far, “I think they have all the things I need in here. I am hoping that they will give me time to build the morning show. And as promised, I will be allowed to do me,” she said.

Finally Settling Long-Standing Feud

Nana Ama McBrown and Nana Yaa Brefo

Following Nana Yaa Brefo’s appointment at Media General, one may have thought that she and Nana Ama McBrown would have had a hard time working in the same space, but current situations have proven otherwise.

The development has paved the way for the two powerful female media personalities, who have since been at loggerheads with each other, to finally settle their long-standing feud.

Since 2020, Nana Ama McBrown and Nana Yaa Brefo have not had a good relationship after the latter claimed the former disrespected her while interviewing Actor Benard Nyarko’s death.

During that same period, Nana Yaa Brefo was also subjected to immense backlash by fans of McBrown for what was termed asking unnecessary and insensitive questions.

This issue had since escalated and the rippling effect was when the AdomTV broadcaster resigned from her job after her employers rendered an apology to McBrown.

This culminated in hurt and betrayal as Nana Yaa Brefo, who felt betrayed and disrespected had since constantly, during several interviews, lamented about how that situation had cost her a lot of good things.

Nana Yaa Brefo and Nana Ama McBrown’s feud had been left unresolved until the former’s current appointment with OnuaTV.

While netizens were wondering how they intend to cope with working in the same environment under such friction, this puzzle appears to have been solved.

Nana Ama McBrown joined the list of individuals who applauded and welcomed Ms. Yaa Brefo to Onua TV.

In a viral chat between the two, they were seen exchanging pleasantries after McBrown had shared Nana Yaa Brefo’s welcome ceremony on her Instagram story.
