Renowned all-female gospel music group, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, has revealed that the group has never filed for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

They stated that winning awards is not their ultimate goal as gospel ministers; instead, preaching God’s word through music to change people’s lives remains their major goal.

“We’re not interested in picking forms for the VGMA because we are more focused on winning souls than the awards. Our calling is a unique one, and we don’t want to be distracted or deviate,” they explained.

They further added that they will not purchase forms to fill out, but if nominated regardless, they will attend the event.

The sisters revealed that they have been accumulating awards from all over the world in different award schemes without filing for nominations.

“If you want to do it for us, just go ahead and pick it; we’re ok,” they said.

The trio further indicated that they are inspired by the testimonies of how people’s lives have been transformed through their songs.

They recounted how their song “Nea Yehu Yi” saved a man who was declared dead due to the failure of doctors to identify his ailment and its cause.

“He said he’s been looking for us for 2 years, and he didn’t know where to find us. According to him, he was sick at Korle Bu, and the doctors declared him dead. He went home because they didn’t see the type of sickness he was suffering from. When he got home, he put his radio on a particular station, and they were playing one of our songs, ‘Nea Yehu Yi’,” they said.

“He listened to the song, and after the DJ gave directions on where to get the CD, he sent someone to buy one for him. He repeated the song to himself at home for 2 weeks, and all he saw was himself being healed,” Cynthia, their lead singer, narrated.

Such testimonies, they revealed, encourage them to do more exploits to glorify the Lord.

The music group has groomed musicians and is still open and willing to train more people in the gospel ministry.

Daughters of Glorious Jesus is set to make a triumphant return to the stage with their annual musical extravaganza, Glorious Praise, after a hiatus enforced by the global pandemic.

Celebrating over three and a half decades of soul-lifting songs and chart-topping hits, the group is gearing up for live performances in Accra, Kwahu, and Kumasi.

Despite facing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Daughters of Glorious Jesus successfully adapted by hosting virtual concerts from 2020 to 2023. This year, Glorious Praise is set to captivate audiences with a triple dose of timeless tunes, bringing back the customary energetic and life-transforming ministrations that have defined the group’s ministry.

“We have carefully put together several artists who will join us on all the various stages in our quest to revive our spirits through music,” The dynamic trio’s leader, Cynthia, expressed her delight about this year’s Glorious Praise.

The tour, commencing on March 24, 2024, in Accra (Palm Sunday), will include a special Easter Sunday performance in Kwahu on March 31, 2024.

Emphasizing the significance of this decision, “Kwahu is the busiest place during the Easter holidays, but unfortunately, there aren’t enough Gospel events during the season. We shouldn’t forget that the reason for the season is to remember the death of our Savior, hence our decision to be in Kwahu for this year’s Glorious Praise,” Edna stated.

In a new dimension to the concert, Daughters of Glorious Jesus will partner with Breast Care International to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer patients. Monica highlighted the charitable aspect, calling on everyone to make this year’s Glorious Praise a memorable one by supporting the cause.

“Embarking on any project directly affecting women is dear to our hearts. We call on all and sundry to join us to make this year’s Glorious Praise a memorable one,” Monica emphasized.

The tour will culminate in Kumasi on April 14, promising an unforgettable musical experience. Fans and supporters are urged to join the dynamic trio as they raise their voices in praise to the maker, marking a triumphant return to live performances.
