The Communications Director of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s campaign team, Nana Akomea, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama are afraid of the Vice President’s potential to secure victory in the December 2024 general polls.

Mr. Nana Akomea stated in a media interview that the continuous attack of the Vice President by the opposition is a sign of the NDC awareness of the competency of the Vice President and that the opposition should be ready to debate the core policies of the Vice President to be revealed soon.

Accordingly, the Communications Director declared that the Ghanaian public should expect more electoral policies from the quarters of the Vice President.

He asserted that the Vice President has more policies in terms of social ideas to transform the socio-economic compass of the country which include, among others, health insurance, free education and annual leaves of public workers.

Furthermore, Mr. Nana Akomea claimed that the Vice President with his team, is appraising and combining his prospective policies for Ghanaians which the Vice President is expected to share during the launch of his Presidential campaign. He emphasized that Ghanaians should expect a mass of policies intended at growth in all sectors.

More so, the Communications Director of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team labelled the opposition, NDC’s, attempt to create a misunderstanding between the Vice President and the President, H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, as tactless.

Mr Akomea stressed that, the Vice President’s recent address at the launch of his Presidential bid is in no way a betrayal of the President and that the narrative being pushed by the NDC are unsubstantiated.

Consequently. Mr. Nana Akomea asserted that Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has never denied his involvement in to the current NPP-led administration as the Vice President.

According to Nana Akomea, the first part of the Vice President’s speech at the launch of his Presidential bid clearly detailed Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s and the NPP’s achievements which proves his acceptance of his contribution to the government.

Dr. Bawumia To Debate Mr. Mahama

Moreover, the Communications Director of the Vice President’s campaign team indicated that after the propaganda being pushed around concludes, there will be an opportunity for both the Vice President and his major opponent and flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama to discuss their campaign policies for Ghanaians.

Nana Akomea argued that Ghanaians will be able to decide for themselves then, what policies are beneficial to them.

Additionally, Nana Akomea stated that Dr. Bawumia outlining his policies to Ghanaians vis-à-vis the policies of Mr. John Dramani Mahama will be a race of thoughts that the former President and flagbearer of the NDC can never win.

He stated that Dr. Bawumia has the best plans for Ghana’s socio-economic development and will therefore work tirelessly to achieve his visions for the people of Ghana should the Vice President be elected as President at the December presidential polls.

The Vice President has been accused by the opposition and a portion of the general public that his ‘driver’s mate’ comment during his address at the launch of his Presidential bid is an attempt at absolving himself of the roles he played as a deputy to the President.

Chiefly among his critics are Professor Ransford Van Gyampo, a lecturer at the University of Ghana and Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, an attorney, who both gave a lecture to the public on the roles of the Vice President as stated by Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
