The Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Abura Asebu Asamankese in the Central Region, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has published a letter that appointed Mr Mahama as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team under the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills administration.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu indicated that the release of the letter addresses false claims being made by some members of the New Patriotic Party administration that there was no Economic Management Team under Professor John Evans Atta Mills, and its attendant claims that former President John Dramani Mahama did not chair the body as well.
According to the former Deputy Minister of Communications under the erstwhile Mahama administration, the members of the Economic Management Team during the National Democratic Congress administration under Professor Mills included the former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffour, former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwesi Ahwoi and former Trade and Industry Minister, Hannah Tetteh.
Other members of the Economic Management Team under the late Professor Mills administration according to Felix Kwakye Ofosu included Dr Joe Oteng-Adjei, the late P.V Obeng, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, Dr Gobind Nankani, Mr Joel Hyde, Dr Cadman Mills, the late Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah –Arthur and Mr Ben C. Eghen, the Secretary to the cabinet at the time.
“Ignorance is bliss. To the NPP loudmouths claiming there was no EMT under Prez Mills and that H.E John Mahama never chaired it, here is a 2010 letter appointing members of Mills’ EMT with a list of members attached. The second paragraph is emphatic on the Chairmanship of the EMT!”

Mr Kwakye Ofosu further explained that even though the letter was officially written on the 23rd of November 2010, such practices are very common with most government and public administrations across the world.
Furthermore, the Special Aide to the former President strongly asserted that there are many instances in Ghana where most public officers have assumed their respective offices without an official letter and further stated that in most instances the letter of appointment to such individuals is given to them months or years after they have officially assumed office.
“The letter appointing me as an aide to former President Mahama from January 2017 to January 2021, was written to me by the Chief of Staff two clear years after I had started work.
“When I was reappointed after the expiration of the first four years, the letter confirming my reappointment was written in September last year and states that the appointment took effect from January 2021 and ends in January 2025”

Ofosu Kwakye Clarifies Redacted Portion Of Mills- EMT Letter Of Appointment
Moreover, the opposition National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Abura Asebu Kwamankese clarified the parts of the letter which appeared redacted and indicated that the redacted portion of the letter related to the conditions of service of the members of the Economic Management team under Professor Mills’s administration.
Mr Ofosu Kwakye noted that he is unable to share details of the portion of the letter due to confidential reasons
“The parts of the letter I redacted relate to the conditions of service of the EMT members which I do not have their permission to share, the same way those of you who work at the Presidency have not shared your conditions of service with the public.
“Redaction is an acceptable practice in the handling and release of official documentation in so far as the unredacted part resolves, conclusively, the matters at issue as to whether or not there was an EMT under Mills, whether it was Chaired by JM and who the members were”.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu
Mr Ofosu Kwakye concluded by stating that the Vice President and the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is on record to have admitted that former President John Dramani Mahama was the chairman of the Economic Management Team under the late Professor Mills administration.
