2024 Dodge Charger Daytona’s Electrifying Debut

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona

Dodge unveiled the Charger Daytona, marking its inaugural foray into the electric vehicle arena. Despite the revolutionary shift in powertrain technology, this first electric addition to the Charger lineup stakes its claim as the world’s fastest and most powerful muscle car.

The 2024 Dodge Charger, available in sedan and coupe configurations, showcases identical wheelbases for both body styles.

At the heart of this automotive marvel are two distinct trim levels introduced at launch, each promising an exhilarating driving experience.

The undisputed showstopper is the Dodge Daytona Scat Pack, a powerhouse that unleashes a staggering 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque.

Brace yourself as this electric marvel is anticipated to blitz from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds, setting a new benchmark for speed enthusiasts.

On the flip side, the R/T variant, boasting an impressive 496 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque, still manages to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a respectable 4.7 seconds.

Delving deeper into performance metrics, the Road/Track (R/T) achieves a top speed of 137 mph, while the Scat Pack lags slightly behind with a limit of 134 mph.

However, when it comes to quarter-mile dominance, the Scat Pack takes center stage, crossing the 1,320-foot mark in a blistering 11.5 seconds, leaving the R/T trailing at 13.1 seconds.

In a landscape where tradition meets innovation, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona signals a paradigm shift in the muscle car realm, proving that electrification doesn’t compromise performance but elevates it to unprecedented heights.

Performance Details

Dodge performance

The Charger redefines automotive excellence on the STLA Large platform with its 400V system, housing a motor on each axle for dynamic all-wheel drive performance.

Offering 250 kW (335 hp) and 300 lb-ft of torque per unit, its six-tier performance levels promise unrivaled driving thrills. A unique feature allows the disconnection of the front electric drive module for improved efficiency.

Dodge’s tuning prowess shines as both trims receive enhancements. The R/T, standard with a Direct Connection Stage 1 upgrade, boasts 456 hp with an additional 40 hp.

Meanwhile, the Scat Pack, equipped with a Stage 2 kit, unleashes 670 hp – an 80 hp surge.

Future models offer 456 hp and 590 hp unless buyers opt for tuning packs. A forthcoming 800V Banshee range-topper hints at simulated engine vibrations, elevating the driving experience.

To rein in its power, the Charger boasts colossal 16-inch Brembo rotors with six-piston calipers in front and four-piston calipers at the rear.

This braking system ensures control and confidence to match the Charger’s breathtaking performance.

Unique Style For Dodge’s First EV

The Charger’s radical concept styling remains largely intact in production, featuring the innovative R-Wing passthrough on the nose for enhanced downforce.

Laser-etched Dodge logos adorn the headlights, while the rear taillights are likened to a blazing “ring of fire.” Illuminated Fratzog logos grace the front and rear LED lighting strips, with a debossed Daytona script and concealed Fratzonic “exhaust” on the lower rear fascia.

Fender badges retain the classic charm, while the wheels boast a fresh design.

Standardizing a gloss black roof, buyers can opt for a full-length glass roof.

Paint options include After Dark, Bludicrous, Destroyer Grey, Diamond Black, Peel Out, Redeye, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle – proof of Dodge’s unrivaled creativity in naming paint colors.

Infotainment And Tech

The Charger Daytona R/T sports a generous 10.25-inch instrument cluster, while the Scat Pack version flaunts a sprawling 16-inch free-floating display, both customizable to minimize distractions.

At the center, a 12.3-inch touchscreen loaded with Uconnect 5 infotainment software features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Opt for the optional head-up display for added convenience.

Alpine supplies a standard nine-speaker 506-watt system with a subwoofer, while an optional 914-watt system with 18 speakers is available across all trims, ensuring an immersive audio experience that amplifies every journey’s soundtrack.

Range And Charging

The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T boasts an estimated range exceeding 317 miles, while the swifter Daytona Scat Pack targets 260 miles.

With a Level 3 DC CCS fast charger, both models can juice up from 20-80% in slightly over 27 minutes. Utilizing a 350 kW fast charger, the R/T gains approximately 9.9 miles per minute, while the Scat Pack clocks in at around 8.1 miles per minute.

Opting for the slowest compatible charger, a Level 2 AC 11 kW charger, reaching 80% capacity may demand nearly seven hours.

As a Stellantis offering, the Dodge Charger Daytona gains access to the Free2Move Charge network, inaugurated in July of last year. Are ready to catch your first ride in the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona?
