GNPC Dismisses Allegations Of Internal Discord And Financial Misappropriation

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has strongly refuted allegations circulating in various media platforms regarding internal dissent against its leadership and mismanagement of public funds.

In a detailed press statement responding to assertions made by the North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation underscored its unwavering commitment to unity, corporate governance, and visionary leadership.

The statement while denying the existence of any discord within its ranks, labelled the allegations as “baseless” and “unfounded”.

“GNPC operates with utmost transparency, integrity, and responsibility, aligning with our corporate values to execute our mandate seamlessly for the benefit of the Ghanaian people.

” Allegations suggesting otherwise are baseless and without any credibility whatsoever. GNPC will continue to drive progress, innovation, and excellence in the oil and gas industry”.

The corporation further emphasized that its staff, including management, stand united in solidarity, demonstrating a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and dedication to their mission.

According to the statement, the synergy between the leadership and staff at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation over the years has helped foster an environment of trust and excellence in everything the corporation does.

Addressing the processes governing decision-making within the organization, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation in its statement reaffirmed its adherence to best corporate governance and standard practices.

The statement also clarified that all staff compensation and benefits are determined by the Board of Directors, ensuring decisions are made with consideration for the corporation’s financial stability and the welfare of its employees.

Furthermore, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation clarified the status of its Chief Executive Officer’s contract, asserting that although the Chief Executive Officer, Danquah Opoku-Ahweneeh’s appointment was approved and confirmed by the Board, no new contract has been signed.

The statement posited that instead, the Chief Executive Officer has opted to continue on the terms of his predecessor’s contract, with no changes to his benefits over the past two years.

Local and International Engagements Responsibly Undertaken

Commenting on the corporation’s international engagements and travel arrangements, the statement issued by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation emphasized responsible conduct, stating that all engagements are strategically undertaken in adherence to established guidelines and policies.

The corporation also highlighted the importance of in-person meetings with key business partners abroad, underscoring how such in-person meetings are significant in securing exploration funding, enhancing upstream opportunities, and fostering strategic partnerships.

According to the statement, under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Danquah Opoku-Ahweneeh, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation has portrayed itself as thriving and excelling in the dynamic oil and gas industry.

The statement credited Mr Danquah’s visionary leadership and strategic foresight for positioning Ghana National Petroleum Corporation for sustained success, earning admiration and recognition within the oil and gas industry.

Moreover, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation’s statement reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare and development, emphasizing a conducive work environment, ample growth opportunities, and fair compensation packages for its staff.

The statement cited the positive press release by the Senior Staff Association as evidence of its dedication to nurturing talent and ensuring excellence within its workforce.

The statement issued by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation comes in response to allegations against the Board and Management of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation led by Mr Freddie Blay of increasing its allowance by 150% by Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa,

The Honorable Okudzeto Ablakwa further alleged that per diem for the Board Chairman of the Ghana National, Petroleum Corporation has increased overwhelmingly from 500 to 850 and 500 to 700 for the Chief Executive Officer and other board members, usually in dollars, Euros or Pounds in accordance with the specific travel destinations.
