Strong commitment needed to secure power in 2024 – Odeneho Kweku Appiah

Hon. Odeneho Kweku Appiah - NPP Constituency Chairman, Afigya Kwabre South

The NPP Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, Odeneho Kweku Appiah has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to strongly commit themselves and adopt necessary measures to help the party secure political power in 2024.

Hon. Kweku Appiah while addressing delegates of the New Patriotic Party at the Annual Delegates Conference at Kodie in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region, disclosed that the growth and development of any political party cannot be achieved in opposition.

“You must shun the needless tension mounted amongst yourselves and work for the progress of the Party. NPP in opposition is not something we should ever wish for”

Odeneho Kweku Appiah

Furthermore, the Constituency Chairman disclosed that being in opposition only goes a long way to “hinder progress, causing internal wrangling and general misconduct”.

Additionally, Hon. Kweku Appiah described a political party in opposition as “going through hell” and urged members to work hard in unison for the NPP to gain political dominance over other political opponents.

Also, the Constituency Chairman explained that indiscipline among some members of the Party was one of the major issues that will likely ruin the chances of the party going forward.

Hon. Appiah further added that these internal party issues must be addressed in order for the party to break the eight-year political term legacy and enable the NPP to continue to rule the country with its progressive agenda and projects.

Meanwhile, Hon. Appiah touching on the voter turn-out in the recently held 2020 general elections, at some polling stations in the Constituency, he expressed his sincere worry about low turn-out recorded.

He further added that the turn-out did not help in recording massive wins at those polling stations within the Constituency.

The Constituency Chairman also advised all Party faithful to lead by example and motivate party members especially during elections to go out and vote massively for bigger wins.

Furthermore, the advent of Covid-19 has disrupted economic progress. Hon. Kwaku Appiah noted that the robust measures adopted by the President in managing the COVID-19 pandemic has enabled most Ghanaian companies and businesses to strive whereas many folded-up in other countries.

Going forward, the Constituency Chairman re-introduced an attendance book for party members which would be in the care of all-party polling station coordinators.

He further revealed that the attendance book would serve as a form of membership mobilization for the party and a tool for preventing controversies at polling stations going forward.

The Constituency Chairman was very optimistic that the attendance book would be a key determinant of the NPP’s win in subsequent elections.

Also speaking at the delegate conference, Mr. William Owuraku Aidoo, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, called for unity among members, especially polling station officers to ensure the Party’s continuous development.

Hon. Aidoo, further assured constituents that necessary actions have been taken to execute all development projects in the area.

Hon. Kweku Appiah then used the opportunity to laud His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for leading Ghana in the path of development and exponential economic growth.
