Stephen Blewett Takes Over As CEO For MTN Ghana

Stephen Blewett, new CEO for Scancom Ltd (MTN Ghana)

In a strategic move aimed at steering MTN Ghana into its next phase of growth and development, Stephen Blewett has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer for Scancom Ltd (MTN Ghana) as of April 1, 2024.

This significant announcement marks a new chapter in the telecommunications giant’s journey in Ghana, following the departure of Selorm Adadevoh, who transitioned to the position of Chief Commercial Officer at MTN Group after nearly six years at the helm of MTN Ghana.

“MTN Ghana is pleased to inform its stakeholders that as earlier announced by MTN Group on December 6, 2024, Stephen Blewett has assumed the role of CEO of Scancom Ltd (MTN Ghana) effective April 1, 2024. This follows the departure of Selorm Adadevoh to MTN Group as the Chief Commercial Officer after serving as CEO of MTN Ghana for close to 6 years.”

Stephen Blewett brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role as CEO of MTN Ghana. Prior to this appointment, he served as the MTN Group Operations Executive for Markets, where he held oversight over eight countries in West and Central Africa. His extensive background in the telecommunications industry includes serving as a Non-Executive Director for several MTN subsidiaries, including Liberia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Benin, and Congo.

He previously held the position of Group Chief Operations Officer for Digicel, a prominent telecom operator in Jamaica, where he played a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and innovation.

Additionally, Blewett served as Chief Executive Officer for MTN operations in Benin and Cameroon, where he demonstrated a keen understanding of the diverse market dynamics and spearheaded initiatives to enhance customer experience and market penetration.

As the new CEO of MTN Ghana, Blewett is poised to leverage his extensive background and insights to propel the company’s growth agenda forward. Stephen joins MTN Ghana with over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce focused on Finance, Economics, Business Administration and Marketing from the University of KwaZulu, Natal.
