ARC Not A Political Merger

Alliance for Revolutionary Change

The leader of the Movement for Change (MFC), Mr. Alan Kwodwo Kyrematen has clarified that the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) is not a merger of the constituent political entities, asserting that all political entities that allied will keep their identities and symbols as political groups.

He, however, indicated that the alliance will engage in a collective campaign in the lead to the 2024 General Elections while revealing that the Alliance came to a consensus decision to make him, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, the Presidential Candidate of the Alliance.

“We’ve come together, yes, to break the duopoly but also to do different things. One clearly, is to go beyond the duopoly because we believe it’s not held our political dispensation but we’ve also come together because we all believe that Ghana needs to have transformational policies in all spheres of national life, in economy, health, education, energy, governance, all these sectors”.

Mr. Alan Kwodwo Kyrematen

Furthermore, the Movement for Change leader indicated that the Alliance partners have also agreed to use the MFC’s transformational plan as the blueprint for the Alliance and by extension, use the plan to prepare for the General Election.

Moreover, Mr. Alan Kyerematen noted that the partners in the Alliance have also agreed that the private sector will be at the center of the Alliance’s development agenda, emphasizing that the Alliance’s development plan will be centered around the youth and women.

“All of us believe that we have to work towards a government of national unity, a more inclusive government than we have now. A government that will include political parties but also include other interest groups”. – Alan Kyerematen

More so, the MFC leader indicated that the Alliance believes that Ghana needs a mindset and attitudinal change, asserting that the Alliance will work towards achieving that if it wins the election and forms a government.

ARC’s Uniqueness

Mr. Alan Kyerematen highlighted that the distinct identities and beliefs maintained by the diverse partners within the Alliance are conducive to collaboration, emphasizing that the array of ideological inclinations within the Alliance does not hinder its unity.

He emphasized that the collective efforts of all partners within the Alliance are directed towards a common objective for the benefit of Ghana, with their differences serving to enhance the uniqueness of the Alliance.

“The agreement is that because we have one candidate contesting for the Presidential election, everywhere we go to campaign, we tell them that Alan is the candidate and he is contesting on the ticket of the Movement for Change and the symbol is butterfly but we are supporting him, we have endorsed his candidature. So even though it may sound confusing, actually, it is not”.

Mr. Alan Kwodwo Kyrematen

He further noted that the individual Alliance partners can decide to file independent parliamentary candidates in any constituency. He indicated that the Alliance has agreed to support any such candidate filed by the partners of the Alliance with the resources accrued by the ARC.

“For example, if NIM [National Interest Party] is putting up a candidate to contest the Okaikoi South seat, all the Alliance partners will support that candidate just like they are supporting the Presidential candidate”. – Alan Kyerematen

He noted that the independent candidates do not necessarily have to use the symbols of the Alliance partners symbols, emphasizing that these candidates can use their own symbols.

Mr. Alan Kyerematen stated that any independent parliamentary candidate that will be supported by the Alliance will be vetted to ensure that the Alliance is endorsing the right candidate.

He also noted that such a candidate must accept the Great Transformational Plan which is the blueprint of the Alliance’s ideological stance.

As such MFC leader revealed that, unlike other political parties that are still drafting their manifestoes, the Alliance has its manifesto ready as the manifesto has been drafted directly from the Great Transformational Plan.

He, however, indicated that the Alliance has not yet selected a running mate, noting that it will decide soon who becomes the running mate as there is enough time before the polls in December.
