Francois’ Wealth of Experience

Before joining Newmont, Francois held executive positions at Avmin Ltd and De Beers Consolidated Mines, further solidifying his industry expertise. As Newmont’s new CTO, Francois will be stationed at the company’s headquarters in Denver, where he will officially assume his role on May 1, 2024. His mandate will include exploring innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and drive sustainable growth for Newmont Corporation.

Francois Hardy’s academic background in Mine Engineering from the Technikon Witwatersrand (now University of Johannesburg) and his National Higher Diploma in Metalliferous Mining from the University of Johannesburg underscore his strong foundation in the technical aspects of mining. This educational background, coupled with his extensive practical experience, positions Francois as a well-rounded leader capable of steering Newmont towards continued success in the dynamic mining industry.

Francois’s wealth of experience, spanning over three decades in various technical and operational roles within the mining sector, uniquely positions him to lead Newmont’s technological initiatives. His tenure at Newmont, coupled with previous executive positions at Avmin Ltd and De Beers Consolidated Mines, underscores his deep understanding of the intricacies of the industry. This blend of practical experience and strategic vision makes Francois a valuable addition to Newmont’s executive leadership team.
