 Interior Minister Issues Stern Warning Against Political Misconduct

Honorable Henry Quartey

The Minister of Interior, Honorable Henry Quartey has issued a stern warning to potential violators of the law, asserting his commitment to upholding justice and ensuring that the rule of law prevails.

Speaking with unwavering confidence, Honorable Quartey underscored his unalloyed commitment and determination to maintain law and order in the upcoming general elections.

“Let me sound the wording again, You know my track record, I walk my talk. Anybody who goes to do something other than what is prescribed, we will do our best to ensure that the law will take its course and the court of competent jurisdiction will do its work”.

Honourable Quartey vehemently expressed his apprehension towards political misconduct, emphasizing that such conduct would not be tolerated.

He strongly asserted that perpetrators of any misconduct both before, during and after the December 7 polls will face the full force of the law, regardless of their social status or political party affiliations.

Furthermore, the Minister of Interior, Honorable Hnery Quartey while admonishing against political misconduct and expressing his outfit commitment to apprehend perpetrators underscored that his actions would be devoid of political retribution.

He emphasized that his commitment to deal with lawbreakers and perpetrators of political misconduct would be solely driven by his commitment to uphold the law, and not by partisan motives.

Peaceful Transfer of Power

Underscoring the essence of democracy and the sanctity of the people’s choice, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister underscored the governing New Patriotic Party’s commitment to ensure a peaceful and incidence-free transfer of power if it losses political power in the upcoming general elections.

He emphasized that the government of President Akufo-Addo would wholeheartedly respect the choice of Ghanaians if it fails to secure victory in the upcoming general elections.

“Perish the thought, and I say again, perish the thought, If they decide to give their mandate to somebody, we will hand over peacefully and walk away, go to the drawing board and come back Inshallah”.

Despite the potential for a shift in power, the Minister of Interior, Honorable Henry Quartey expressed his unwavering confidence in the achievements of the current administration, highlighting its efforts in infrastructure and other key areas.to win the December 7 polls.

He thus urged the general public to have confidence in the ruling party and vote for its Presidential Candidate, Vice President Dr Mahamaudu Bawumai as the next President of Ghana in the 2024 general elections, touting the government significant achievements.

Honorable Henry Quartery concluded his remarks by invoking God’s grace and providence to help the New Patriotic Party to win the 2024 general elections, expressing the party’s commitment to secure another term in office.

“As a politician, as a political party, it is our hope, it is our wish, it is our belief that by the grace of God, the good people of this country, the good work that we have done in infrastructure and in other interventions, they will give us another mandate”.

The Minister of Interior’s comment comes following concerns raised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the willingness of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to hand over power if the ruling part losses power in the December 7 polls.

The opposition party, in a press conference addressed by its National Chairman, Johnson Aaiedu Nketia, cautioned President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party to opt for a peaceful transfer of power for the betterment of the party.

These concerns, he noted were consequential and imperative due to President Akufo-Addo’s earlier remarks, stating his hesitance of handing over power to an opponent he had previously defeated in two elections.
