Celebrity blogger, Kobby Kyei has disclosed the lengths he went to to meet his idol, renowned Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie.

The renowned blogger unveiled a tale of obsession, maneuvering, and a bold lie that ultimately brought him face-to-face with his hero.

Kobby Kyei, who had been a passionate admirer of Sarkodie since his university days at the University of Education, Winneba, shared that his initial attempts to get closer to the rapper were filled with challenges.

“I’ve met Sarkodie before but prior to that, it was difficult getting close to him just like any normal fan who admired someone from afar. Mine was a bit crazy because I loved him so much. I was obsessed.”

In 2010, Kobby Kyei revealed that a friend advised him to join Facebook and other social media platforms to follow Sarkodie’s activities. This marked the beginning of Kobby’s determined pursuits.

According to him, his first in-person encounter with Sarkodie occurred in 2012 at the Greenland Hotel in Agona Swedru, where Sarkodie was scheduled to perform. It was here that Kobby’s ingenuity came to the fore.

Kobby, then a student, bore a striking resemblance to Sarkodie, thanks to his beard and spectacles. According to him, he seized the opportunity and approached the stage setup crew.

“I heard some of them say I resemble Sarkodie so I’m part of the team. So I told them Sarkodie didn’t like the speakers they were using; they should change the monitors. So, in their minds, I’m part of Sarkodie’s team.”

When Sarkodie’s managers, Sammy Forson and AngelTown, arrived, Kobby introduced himself as part of the local organizing team.

“When the show began, they had sacked everyone from the stage except me. In the minds of the Swedru folks, I’m with Sarkodie’s team, and in the minds of Sarkodie’s team, I’m with the organizers.”

He added that his lie was concluded in a photo with Sarkodie on stage. However, when he shared the picture on Facebook, doubters dismissed it as a Photoshop job.

But Kobby’s dream came true when Sarkodie recorded a song for his fans and mentioned Kobby first.

“That was a great moment. I’d have died if he hadn’t mentioned me. I was so happy. God bless him,” Kobby said.

Kobby Kyei’s Heartfelt Remarks to Delay

Kobby Kyei’s appearance on The Delay Show was a dream come true for the celebrity blogger.

He recalled his long-time desire to be interviewed by Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay), hoping to be part of the eminent list of celebrities the award-winning television presenter has interviewed.

“I told you I’d come on your show. That was about four years ago. And I’m here. I’m humbled. I’m so humbled to be here. I wanted to be here. I really wanted to be here because we all grew up watching you. Your consistency is crazy; the impact you’ve made in the industry.”

Kobby Kyei also mentioned that he wanted to be part of Delay’s future documentary.

“I’ve seen you interview many people, so I envisaged that if I come on your show, in the future, if anyone is looking for a documentary, your interviews will pop up. So, I made up my mind to be here so that at least, when we’re talking about the people Delay has interviewed in your future documentary, I’ll be happy to be a part of it.”

His comments brought a blush to Delay’s cheeks, showing how moved she was by his remarks.

Delay is highly regarded for her exceptional interviewing skills, characterized by her composed demeanor and insightful questions.

With a remarkable television career spanning over fourteen years, Delay has firmly established herself as a formidable brand in the industry.

Kobby Kyei also alluded to rumors of a relationship between Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay) and musician Amerado when responding to a question about his alleged relationship with Nana Ama McBrown.

During an interaction, Delay sought a reaction from Kobby Kyei regarding his rumored relationship with the actress, following viral pictures of their recent trip to Dubai.

“I think it’s just one of those things because even I was shocked when I heard you were having a relationship with Amerado. Amerado is a young talent coming up, and with your influence, you needed to support Amerado genuinely.

“Even some of us wish we could work with Delay and benefit from your help. But people were just trying to orchestrate things.”

Kobby Kyei

Describing his relationship with McBrown as a healthy one based on professional work ethics, Kobby Kyei categorically denied any sexual relationship between himself and the host of Onua Showtime.
