Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Leader MFC

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the leader of the Movement for Change (MFC) and an independent presidential candidate has pledged to implement a reformed tax system in Ghana if elected president, aiming to create a more efficient and equitable tax regime that promotes economic growth and development.

Alan Kyerematen believes that excessive taxation can stifle business growth and hinder job creation, arguing that there are alternative revenue streams that can be explored, making it unnecessary to burden businesses with additional taxes.

He stated that businesses should instead be encouraged to thrive and generate employment opportunities.

“Dealing with corruption and blocking leakages will save money for development without introducing more taxes. Taxes contribute to the cost of production, with high taxes prices will go up and that’s a major problem for consumers. You need to bring the taxes down that is what I am proposing the low tax regime in the subregion. This will make companies more competitive, then you will get more revenue.”

Furthermore, Alan Kyerematen urged voters to scrutinize the character and lifestyle of all candidates running in the 2024 general elections, emphasizing that this scrutiny will help determine whether they possess the integrity and moral fiber necessary to hold public office.

He noted that it will also ensure that only the most suitable candidates are elected to positions of trust and leadership.

Alan Kyerematen emphasized the need for a leader who is not bound by partisan interests, a leader who can bring the nation together and foster a sense of unity and shared purpose, to drive the country forward and achieve the development and progress that Ghanaians deserve.

“Our country is so polarized. Ghana is at a crossroads and where we are now with the crisis, we must go beyond this type of politics. Yes I want to be president, God has endowed me with the skills but we need to bring the country together”.

Kyerematen Vows To Streamline Government And Boost Efficiency

Alan Kyerematen promised to establish a lean and efficient government of 40 ministers, leveraging a diverse team of experts to tackle Ghana’s pressing issues with innovative solutions, ensuring effective governance and a renewed approach to addressing the nation’s challenges.

“I will reduce the current size of government and run a lean executive administration consisting of not more than 40 ministers. Eliminate soul sourcing in public procurement and contracting to ensure value for money”.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen

According to Alan Kyerematen, one effective way to curb corruption in government public procurement is to eliminate sole-sourcing practices, promoting transparency and fairness in the process.

The MFC leader also advocated for the extension of presidential terms, believing that a longer tenure would enable governments to implement their development agendas and achieve meaningful progress without the constraints of a limited time frame.

He suggested that abolishing the Council of State would create an opportunity to establish a second chamber in parliament, potentially enhancing the legislative process and promoting more effective governance.

“I will abolish the Council of State and establish a new second chamber of Parliament with representation from key stakeholders including the faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, professional bodies, artisanal associations, gender-based organizations, private sector, labor unions, and people with disability”

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen

Alan Kyerematen made the case that a second chamber comprising stakeholders from diverse fields would provide a platform for diverse interest groups to have a voice in the country’s decision-making process, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives are considered and represented.

He called on the citizens to entrust him with their votes on December 7th, promising that his leadership would pave the way for meaningful development and a brighter future for the nation.
