The National Youth Wing of the NDC has issued a press statement announcing a youth-led dialogue with the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, to commemorate International Youth Day.
Accordingly, the NDC Youth Wing invites all young Ghanaians to join in insightful discussions and engaging activities with flagbearer H.E. John Dramani Mahama on August 12, 2024.
The day’s activities will kick off with the launch of the NDC Youth Manifesto at the Kofi Chene-Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), as indicated by the Youth Wing.
“The manifesto is a product of extensive consultations with young people across Ghana and outlines bold and practical solutions to our challenges. Key among these are strategies to combat youth unemployment, enhance access to quality education, and foster entrepreneurship through digital skills training and support for startups”.
“In the evening, we will host the ‘Mahama Youth Townhall Meeting at the Bukom Boxing Arena where young people will have the opportunity to engage directly with H.E. Mr. Mahama”.

The NDC Youth Wing emphasized that Ghana’s youth will have the opportunity to express their concerns, pose challenging questions, and engage in meaningful discussions on issues that affect them most directly with the flagbearer.
The Youth Wing pointed out that these concerns may include a range of critical issues, including the need for decent job opportunities, affordable education, and increased youth representation in government.
The NDC also highlighted that the flagbearer will address the critical issue of youth unemployment and outline a clear path forward.
The Youth Wing reiterated John Mahama’s pledge to confront the challenge of youth unemployment directly by generating thousands of job opportunities through industrial growth, agricultural modernization, and increased access to vocational training and apprenticeship programs.
The NDC Youth Wing further revealed that the discussion will also delve into John Mahama’s plans to empower young entrepreneurs through comprehensive support, including funding, mentorship, and access to markets.
Empowering Youth Through Education
Furthermore, the NDC Youth Wing emphasized that a cornerstone of H.E. Mr. Mahama’s youth empowerment agenda is ensuring access to high-quality education across all levels.
The Youth Wing revealed that H.E. Mr. Mahama’s education plan includes scaling up digital literacy programs to empower young Ghanaians with the necessary skills to excel in a dynamic, technology-driven world.
“The future of Chana depends on the active participation of its youth in governance. The NDC is committed to ensuring that young people are represented in decision-making processes and have a real say in shaping the policies that affect their lives”.
“H.E. John Mahama has pledged to establish the youngest cabinet in Ghana’s history demonstrating his strong belief in including the youth in the development of Ghana. H.E. Mr Mahama is firmly committed to the establishment of a Ministry focused on the development and growth of our youth who currently constitute 38% of the population”.

The Youth Wing stated that this ministry will focus on addressing the unique challenges faced by young Ghanaians, including unemployment, education, skills training, and entrepreneurship, and will implement policies and programs to empower the youth.
