Doing Makeup And Body Enhancement Not Against Christianity

Piesie Esther

Ghanaian gospel musician, Piesie Esther has asserted enhancing one’s beauty is not unchristian.

She advocated modesty and being chic, however. The gospel star cited a picture of hers “from those days past,” which was recently discovered by her child, and proves she had always been fashionable.

She stated that she loved to dress stylishly “like my father Apae [Rev Tony Asamoah Boateng]”. “I understand fashion. My God loves beautiful things,” she added.

She, however, admonished women to consider they can dress gorgeously without “exposing themselves unnecessarily”.

Piesie Esther emphasized: “The Bible teaches we should dress modestly.”

Dressing modestly, however, she caveated, does not mean shunning trendy clothing.

Admonishing against dressing shabbily in the name of modesty or religious uprightness, she said, “For me, I dress so when someone sees me, they would be moved to glorify God.”

Piesie Esther noted instances when women accidentally dress provocatively, also.

“There are times, without properly assessing my clothes, I rush out of the house, only to realize I’m looking unseemly. At that moment, I don’t have any choice but to keep the clothing on. I may honestly want to take it off but, in that case, I’d have nothing else to wear.

“In those instances, my conscience bothers me and I can clearly see I’m not comfortable in the outfit. I notice it can provoke someone or cause concern.”

Cosmetic Products

The ‘W’aye Me Yie’ hitmaker made it clear she had nothing against women wearing makeup, lashes, wigs, and other fashion articles.

“Look at me, am I not looking beautiful? God wants beautiful and neat things. A time passed when we believed, as we were told, makeup products were from [the demonic entity] maame water but now we know it isn’t the case, human beings make it for beautifying oneself.”

Noticing people of yesteryear used powder on their faces to enhance their appearance, Piesie Esther said, “Today, God has increased our knowledge and brought about advanced makeup kits.”

To support her point, the veteran singer-songwriter mentioned the biblical character “Queen Esther who won the favor of King Xerxes” as a woman who tastefully “used cosmetics and fashion articles and even partook in a beauty pageant”.

“Beauty is good. It is only when beauty products are used excessively that it becomes bad. Everybody knows I don’t like heavy and flamboyant makeup.

“Even the Bible describes God in beautiful clothing. There’s nothing wrong with being Christian and fashionable. Just don’t abuse makeup.”

Privately called Mrs Esther Asiedu, she could not boldly state cosmetic surgery was sanctioned by God.

However, she noted that it’s up to the individual and their opinion.

“Maybe God likes it. Maybe he doesn’t. I don’t know,” she said.

Piesie Esther was excited to note God has created different and beautiful types of body shades and shapes.

“I’m a woman but there are times you’d see another woman and be struck instantly and undoubtedly that she is so gorgeous. Perhaps, women who do cosmetic surgery are taking inspiration from those who naturally have the looks they desire. As to whether it is good or not, I don’t know.”

Wearing Tight-Fitting Dresses

The renowned Ghanaian gospel musician stated that she usually feels uncomfortable when she wears tight-fitting dresses.

She reacted to statements by the Head Pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, who slammed gospel artists in Ghana for dressing indecently.

Piesie Esther mentioned how she used to frequently wear tight-fitting dresses but has since shifted away from such attires.

According to her, she felt uncomfortable wearing such dresses, and she wanted to align her appearance with her faith.

“You will notice that I have stopped wearing those dresses; even when I wear them nowadays, it’s because I’m in a hurry and do not have time to take a critical look at the dresses I wear.

“The reason is that when I wear such, I’m not comfortable in such. When I wear them I get worried. There is this saying, ‘Dress the way you want to be addressed.’ Even the Bible preaches it. I want a case where, if I dress, you see Christ in me.”
