The Chairman of the Manifesto Committee for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential campaign team, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has hailed the newly launched manifesto by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer as a “bold and comprehensive” response to the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians.

Speaking at the official launch of the manifesto, Hon. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasized that the document is not only a reflection of Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana but also an outcome of extensive consultations and engagements with citizens across the country.

In his address, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu described the manifesto as a unique blend of Bawumia’s innovative ideas and the feedback collected during his interactions with people from all walks of life.

“We were with him wherever he went, wherever he engaged the people and took out issues that came up. He has used it to fertilize his own vision.

“That man admits that notwithstanding what he has achieved in life, he is not the repository of knowledge, wisdom, and experience.”

The manifesto, according to Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, represents a “mixed grill” of Bawumia’s strategic focus and the priorities articulated by Ghanaians during the numerous engagements.

“We have fertilized that idea with what we had from the people that we engaged to come out with this comprehensive vision,” he said, adding that the manifesto is a “bold attempt to respond to the issues that were raised.”

The launch event, which drew a large crowd of party faithful, also featured a passionate plea from the NPP Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

Addressing the gathering at the Effiakuma Police Park, where the manifesto launch took place, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong called for unity within the party as they gear up for the 2024 general elections.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong appealed to members of the party to forgive any past grievances and work together towards the common goal of securing victory and “breaking the 8,” a reference to the NPP’s ambition to retain power after two consecutive terms.

“I understand the bitterness and frustration that many of you feel, but I can confidently say that I’m the most frustrated person among all. However, we’ve put our differences aside for the love of the party.”

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks were met with applause from the crowd, underscoring the significance of unity as a critical factor for the party’s success in the upcoming elections.

The Assin Central MP, who is known for his outspoken nature, also shared his personal experiences of frustration, acknowledging that he has often been at odds with some decisions within the party.

Nonetheless, he stressed the importance of reconciliation and collaboration in the face of the challenges ahead. “So, I implore you to forgive your brothers and sisters and let’s work together towards a victorious outcome in the upcoming elections,” he urged.

The manifesto launch marks a significant milestone in the NPP’s campaign strategy, as the party positions itself to win the hearts and minds of the electorate.

Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the political discourse in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, with its detailed proposals and policy initiatives aimed at addressing the most pressing issues facing Ghanaians today.

As the NPP seeks to maintain its hold on power, the party’s leadership is keenly aware of the need to address both internal and external challenges. The appeal for unity by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong highlights the ongoing efforts to mend any rifts within the party and present a united front to the electorate.

This call for solidarity is expected to resonate with party members, especially as the NPP intensifies its campaign efforts across the country.

The launch of Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto signified a critical phase in the NPP’s journey towards the 2024 elections. With a focus on responding to the needs of Ghanaians and fostering unity within the party, the document is poised to be a central pillar in the NPP’s campaign.

The coming months will be crucial as the party seeks to rally support around its flagbearer and the promises laid out in the manifesto.
