Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam NDC Alleges Illegal Voter Transfers from EC’s Register

Ajumako Enyam Essiam NDC Executives

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency has raised serious concerns about alleged illegal voter transfers from the Electoral Commission’s (EC) register within the constituency.

At a press conference, the NDC executives in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency accused the EC of manipulating the voter roll in favor of the ruling party, suggesting a deliberate attempt to rig the upcoming elections.

In a detailed statement, the NDC constituency executives revealed findings from their audit of the EC’s voter register.

“Another shocking revelation detected during our audit was that a huge number of 3,868 voters were transferred out of the constituency. While the total figure of the absent list collected from the EC’s personnel from the field by our election committee was 3,039. A difference of 829 voters; that is 829, were not on their exhibited register but can be found on the EC’s register given to the NDC”.

The NDC expressed deep concern over these discrepancies, describing them as both “worrying and very disappointing”, adding that “if this was an error, it was a deliberate and intentional one”.

The NDC executives further explained that after detecting these suspicious figures and discrepancies, they met with the district director of the Electoral Commission to seek clarity on the matter.

According to the NDC, the district EC boss admitted to the figures but could not provide an explanation, instead promising to report the anomaly to the national headquarters.

The NDC Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency executives criticized the EC’s response as weak and unsatisfactory, thereby demanding urgent action from the leadership of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

“We in the NDC here in Ajumako Enyan Essiam do not take this weak response lightly. We are by this press conference calling on the EC boss, Madam Jean Mensa, to immediately delete all the 3,017 unlawfully transferred voters into the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency.

“We are again demanding an urgent explanation as to how the EC gave us copies of the register and exhibited a completely different one during their just-ended exhibition exercise.”

A Scheme to Manipulate Electoral Process

The National Democratic Congress in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency strongly emphasized that the discrepancies are part of a broader strategy by the Electoral Commission of Ghana to favor the ruling party in the forthcoming elections.

They expressed their unwavering commitment and readiness to resist any attempts to manipulate the electoral process to favour the ruling New Patriotic Party and its parliamentary candidate in the upcoming December general elections.

“It is our firm belief that the EC created this mess in our voter roll only as an attempt to help the ruling party rig the upcoming elections. But we are by this release sounding a strong warning, a very very strong warning to the Jean Mensa-led EC and their collaborators that we will resist every attempt by any means possible to prevent them from achieving their rigging agenda.”

The party’s statement concluded with a call for immediate action to rectify the alleged illegal voter transfers and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

The NDC in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency reiterated their commitment to transparency and fairness, stating that they would continue to scrutinize the voter register and other electoral processes closely.

The Ajuamko Enyan Essiam Constituency NDC’s allegations add to earlier allegations made by the Awutu Senya East Constituency’s NDC’s parliamentary candidate allegations of over 500 duplicate records, each with sequentially altered identification numbers, suggesting a deliberate attempt to manipulate the electoral process within the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

In both allegations, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has yet to respond to it, and it remains to be seen how this issue will unfold in the coming days.

The NDC’s insistence on a thorough investigation and rectification of the alleged anomalies highlights the critical importance of trust and transparency in the electoral process.
