President Akufo-Addo has raised doubts about John Dramani Mahama’s economic management skills, casting doubt on the opposition leader’s ability to effectively support and sustain key industries.

Speaking during his tour of the Central Region on Wednesday, November 6, Akufo-Addo questioned Mahama’s reliability, arguing that the former president lacks the leadership needed to deliver on his promises.

He further claimed that Mr. Mahama, as the NDC’s flagbearer, cannot be trusted to ensure economic stability and growth if given another opportunity to lead during the elections.

“John Dramani Mahama will come here again before we vote in December 2024. When he comes, ask him about the Kumasi Brewery. It produces beer, and Guinness, and used to work three shifts within 24 hours. It collapsed during his tenure.

“You want a 24-hour economy but couldn’t oversee what was left in your care. Is it now that you are going to do something about it?”

President Akufo-Addo called on Ghanaians to reflect on the economic setbacks experienced during John Mahama’s tenure, advising caution in considering him for the upcoming elections.

The President warned that re-electing Mahama would be a “mistake,” asserting that his leadership would cause the country to “retrogress” rather than progress.

Emphasizing the value of stability and continuity, Akufo-Addo urged voters to support his administration’s policies to sustain development gains.

He highlighted the importance of building on recent achievements, asking Ghanaians to avoid repeating past “errors” by voting for the former president. “Let’s not make a mistake and retrogress,” he stated.

President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that Bawumia’s leadership would help propel Ghana toward a brighter future.

Akufo-Addo highlighted Bawumia’s experience and commitment to economic reforms, which he believes are essential to maintain the momentum of development and address Ghana’s pressing challenges.

Akufo-Addo Urges Ghanaians to Reject Mahama’s Presidential Bid

Furthermore, President Nana Akufo-Addo called on Ghanaians to reject John Dramani Mahama’s bid for the presidency, asserting that the former president lacks the necessary qualities to lead the nation toward progress.

Speaking on the importance of visionary leadership, Akufo-Addo argued that Mahama represents a step backward for the country, cautioning that re-electing him would stall Ghana.

Akufo-Addo contended that Mahama’s approach to governance is outdated and lacks the forward-thinking vision essential for addressing the complex challenges facing Ghana today.

According to him, Mahama’s leadership style, which he described as out of touch with the current aspirations and needs of the people, could hinder Ghana’s path to sustained growth and stability.

The President highlighted the need for continuity in leadership, suggesting that maintaining the policies implemented under his administration would be key to achieving long-term development.

Akufo-Addo argued that Mahama’s return to power would undermine these efforts, disrupting the progress that his government has strived to achieve.

Moreover, Akufo-Addo endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the leader capable of advancing Ghana’s development agenda.

He praised Bawumia’s economic acumen and his deep commitment to transformative policies aimed at strengthening the nation’s economy.

Akufo-Addo pointed to Bawumia’s track record within the current administration, emphasizing his expertise in economic management and his dedication to modernization efforts.

Akufo-Addo believes that Ghanaians will choose a path of continuity and sustainable growth, ensuring that recent accomplishments are built upon rather than dismantled under the leadership of Bawumia.

While Mahama has positioned himself as a candidate for change, Akufo-Addo’s remarks reflect the NPP’s broader campaign strategy of framing Mahama as unprepared to address Ghana’s evolving challenges.

The President underscored that Ghana needs a leader with a vision for the future, arguing that Bawumia, rather than Mahama, embodies that vision and the readiness to take Ghana to the next stage of development.
