Gloria Kani Shares Challenges Single Mothers Face

Gloria Kani

In a touching disclosure, Kumawood actress turned evangelist, Gloria Kani has shared the challenges she and other single mothers encounter, crediting numerous of these difficulties to behaviors by men.

In her narrative, Gloria highlights the deeply rooted stigma surrounding single mothers in Ghana, who are frequently derogatorily referred to as “born one” or “born two” according to their offspring.

She highlighted that the stereotypes surrounding single motherhood only intensify the challenges, hindering women from discovering meaningful relationships or contemplating marriage.

Gloria started her path as a single mother in challenging situations. In a video, she shared how her life changed unexpectedly when she got pregnant with her first child while a student.

She explains, “I was a young woman in school with dreams, but I put everything on hold to care for my unborn child. The father continued his education, even as I stayed behind to raise our baby,” she shared, her voice heavy with emotion.

Despite her sacrifices, she says, the father abandoned them both. “It’s painful to invest in someone, to support their family, only for them to turn their back when you need them most,” Gloria recounted.

Her narrative underscores a tough truth faced by numerous single mothers: the absence of responsibility from partners who frequently go on with their lives undisturbed while the women must shoulder the burdens of single parenting.

This individual, now a well-known personality, abandoned her, she asserts, leaving her with scarcely anything aside from a collection of memories and a child to raise by herself.

As Gloria entered a new relationship, she encountered new challenges. She mentions that her second partner had doubts because she had a child from a previous relationship. “I thought he could see past my circumstances, but he couldn’t,” she confessed.

This new relationship ended, leaving her with two children from two different men.

“Some people judge me because I have two children with two men. But no one sees the battles I fought, the sacrifices I made. All they see are the labels.”

Her words reflect a systemic issue within Ghanaian society where single mothers often carry the stigma of their situation. The very men who refuse to marry single mothers are often the ones who contributed to their single parenthood, Gloria argued. “Why is it that men can walk away freely, but women are left with all the judgment?” she questioned, calling out the double standard.

Actress Gloria Kani warned young women about a rarely discussed pitfall in relationships: dating broke men.

In a video shared, the Kumawood actress, now an evangelist, opened up about her own experiences, urging women to recognize the unseen risks of entering relationships with men who aren’t financially prepared for a future together.

“Don’t think of building a life with a broke man. It’s a setup. These men, once they get on their feet, often choose to start afresh with someone else.”

Gloria Kani

Her advice underscores an uncomfortable but important truth about relationships: financial instability can create dependencies and disappointments that can turn love into a burden.

Gloria’s story highlights a pattern she believes can trap women in cycles of hardship, pointing out that women often make sacrifices for partners who may not have the resources or the commitment to support them long-term.

“It’s easy to feel like love will be enough. But without financial stability, that love can turn to resentment.”

Gloria Kani

Her words shed light on the importance of prioritizing financial security in a relationship, especially in societies where single mothers often face stigmatization.
