Artiste manager, Bullgod has announced his intention to petition Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) to investigate the recent erection of a statue in honor of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, the individuals responsible for commissioning the statue should be held accountable, and he described the project as a waste of public funds.

The artiste manager criticized the decision, saying, “I have plans to petition the ORAL team to investigate whoever commissioned that statue.”

“You cannot use state funds to erect such a useless statue. When the road there is bad. For eight years some of us have been talking, people are now talking, and we will be talking.”

When he heard about the statue, Bullgod also said he spoke to his lawyer about the legal consequences of destroying state property.

“I called my lawyer when I heard that a statue was erected for the former President and asked that if you destroyed state property, what is the crime? He said misdemeanour and others. For me, the regional minister who commissioned it needs to be investigated. I don’t know the laws that allowed him to erect a statue by the roadside.”

He believes public funds should be used for more important things, like fixing bad roads, and he wants those responsible for the statue to be questioned.

Vandalized statue of former President Akufo-Addo

The controversial statue of Ghana’s former President Nana Akufo-Addo, unveiled in November 2024, in Ghana’s Western Region, faced backlash from its inception, with many criticizing it as a display of self-promotion.

However, the statue has been destroyed, with images showing its severed head and damaged pedestal. The police have not commented on who may have targeted the statue or why.

Early on, some locals had called for its removal, arguing it offered no value to the community. It had already been partially vandalized in December, leaving one leg damaged.

While some residents celebrated its destruction, calling it overdue, others said a more respectful approach should have been taken.

Critics previously questioned the use of public funds for the statue, given Ghana’s economic struggles, including an IMF bailout and a worsening cost-of-living crisis.

The statue’s unveiling was meant to honor the development initiatives of Akufo-Addo, who completed his second term last week.

His party lost heavily in December’s elections to President John Mahama, who had also labeled the statue insensitive during tough economic times.

Bullgod Warns Akufo-Addo

Artsite Manager, Bullgod asked Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to act like he is dead while he is enjoying his retirement.

He does not want the former President to speak on anything concerning the country.

To Bullgod, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, while President, gagged every individual in the country, so he must remain silent.

“Look where we are as a country; we don’t have time. Is John Dramani Mahama Akufo-Addo’s PR? Somebody like Akufo-Addo should never speak in Ghana again. He shouldn’t even cough. Some of us will make it our personal agenda.”

Bullgod

According to him, the former President Akufo-Addo should behave like he’s “dead.”

“He will hear what we will tell him if he speaks. He should behave like he is dead and buried. I tell you that the inauguration we did was his funeral. He is dead.”

Moreover, Kumawood actor, Taylor One, issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party and some media houses in the country not to speak against President Mahama’s government.

In a video shared online, the actor noted that people who failed to speak against the Akufo-Addo-led administration should keep quiet for the next four years.
