He stressed the urgency of creating sustainable solutions that protect the environment, particularly the nation’s water bodies.

Recognizing the expertise and experience of the directors, the Minister stated, “You will be my key advisors as I navigate this Ministry,” underscoring the importance of teamwork in addressing critical national issues.

Highlighting the delicate balance between development and environmental protection, he stressed, “We must create a path that will not destroy our water bodies.”

This statement reflects the growing concern over the negative environmental impact of illegal mining activities, which have resulted in widespread deforestation, pollution of water bodies, and loss of biodiversity.

Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah also expressed his commitment to fostering a positive work environment within the Ministry.

He highlighted the importance of motivation and job satisfaction, saying, “I intend to create an atmosphere that will make everyone excited whenever they want to come to work.”

His assurance of an inclusive and non-partisan leadership was welcomed by the directors and staff alike.

The Minister assured directors that his support would be available to all, regardless of political affiliation. This commitment to impartiality aims to enhance professionalism and efficiency within the Ministry, ensuring that national interests take precedence over political divisions.

Reaffirming his stance against corruption, the Minister made it clear that he would not tolerate illegal activities within the sector.

“I am not going to compromise in my position to condone illegality, especially illegal logging and mining.”

His firm stance on accountability is expected to strengthen efforts to regulate natural resource exploitation and curb illegal practices that have hindered sustainable development.

Beyond his meeting with directors, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah also engaged with the ministry’s staff, urging them to remain committed to their duties while avoiding partisan politics.

He encouraged employees to act as effective agents in implementing President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for the Lands and Natural Resources sector.

As the MP for Ellembele, the Minister understands the importance of grassroots engagement and institutional commitment.

He reassured the staff of an open-door policy aimed at addressing their concerns and promoting their professional growth. “The welfare of staff is at the heart of my leadership,” he assured, adding that he would take personal interest in their career development and work conditions.

While affirming his support for staff welfare, Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah also issued a caution against actions that could undermine the government’s objectives for Ghana’s Lands, Forestry, and Minerals sub-sectors.

He called on all employees to uphold integrity and work diligently toward achieving the Ministry’s mission.

The Chief Director Prof. Patrick Agbesinyale also welcomed the Minister and assured him of the Ministry’s staff loyalty and dedication. “This Ministry means business, and we will work with you to succeed,” he stated, reaffirming the collective commitment to achieving set goals.

The staff and leadership of the Ministry have shown strong support for the Minister’s vision, which includes sustainable land management, effective resource utilization, and combating illegal practices in the natural resource sector.

Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah’s meeting with the Ministry’s leadership and staff sets the tone for a tenure marked by collaboration, transparency, and strategic action against environmental degradation and illegal resource exploitation.

His emphasis on teamwork, professionalism, and sustainability underscores the government’s commitment to making the Lands and Natural Resources sector a pillar of national development.

As Ghana continues to navigate the challenges associated with land use, forest preservation, and mineral exploitation, the Minister’s policies and approach will play a critical role in shaping the future of the sector.

With strong leadership, cooperation, and accountability, the Ministry aims to drive sustainable development while protecting Ghana’s natural resources for future generations.
