Joyce Bawah Condemns NPP Attack on Her Integrity

NPP ON negativism

New Patriotic Party, NPP)

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, spokesperson and personal aide to President John Mahama, has strongly condemned what she describes as a relentless NPP attack on her integrity and reputation.

She accused the party of resorting to petty and unfounded accusations in a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant following their electoral defeat.

Mogtari argued that rather than focusing on rebuilding their party or addressing the pressing concerns of Ghanaians, the NPP has chosen to engage in smear campaigns and character assassination.

Mogtari noted that these tactics reflect the party’s broader struggle to come to terms with its rejection at the polls and its inability to offer meaningful alternatives to the country’s challenges.

According to her, the party’s strategy appears to be little more than what she describes as “tickle yourself and laugh.”

Mogtari revealed that the NPP has recently resorted to “baseless, needless, and unjustified tactics” in an attempt to undermine her reputation over the lawful acquisition of a vehicle for personal use.

She dismissed these claims as politically motivated, emphasizing that her purchase was in full compliance with all legal and procedural requirements.

“Their attacks would have been justified if, in their haste to attack me, they were able to show that the acquisition was not in full compliance with my Conditions of Service or any law.”

The NDC stalwart further emphasized her unwavering commitment to upholding the law and serving Ghana with integrity.

She highlighted that, throughout her career, she has conducted herself within legal and ethical boundaries.

Regarding the NPP questioning her integrity during her tenure as Deputy Minister of Transportation, she emphasized that no formal investigation or complaint has ever been lodged against her concerning the acquisition of the vehicle.

This, she argued, is a testament to her adherence to due process and responsible public service.

NPP’s Desperation and Misdirected Accusations

Furthermore, Joyce Bawah Mogtari expressed disappointment that leading figures and supporters of the NPP have continuously targeted her with baseless accusations, none of which have been substantiated.

She described their tactics as acts of frustration following their loss of power, stating that their inability to accept defeat has driven them to fabricate allegations against her and other NDC figures.

Bawah further clarified that valuations are conducted by the State Transport Corporation (STC), the institution mandated to determine the pricing of government vehicles.

“….as the experts, they [STC] have their established criteria for conducting valuations. So it is completely out of place for anyone to attack me for the price of the vehicle when the real questions should be directed at STC to lay bare the parameters for determining vehicle prices.”

She warned that moving forward, she will not hesitate to take legal action against “perpetrators of such false and malicious publications.”

Mogtari did not hold back in her sharp critique of the NPP’s governance, attributing their electoral defeat to what she described as a clear lack of competence and effective leadership.

She argued that the party’s inability to manage the country’s affairs responsibly, particularly its economic missteps, played a significant role in its rejection at the polls.

In her view, the NPP’s failure to address critical national challenges, coupled with policies that burdened ordinary citizens, created widespread dissatisfaction among Ghanaians.

This, Bawah maintained, ultimately led to their removal from power, as the electorate sought a government that could provide real solutions to the country’s pressing problems.

As such, she reiterated that rather than engaging in political mudslinging, the NPP should focus on introspection and reforms if they hope to regain public confidence in the future.

Mogtari’s remarks highlight the ongoing political tensions between Ghana’s two major parties, particularly in the aftermath of the NPP’s electoral loss.

Her warning of legal action suggests a shift in strategy, signaling that she and other NDC figures will no longer tolerate what they view as politically motivated attacks from the opposition NPP.
