Christiana Awuni Advises Charlotte Oduro After Divorce

Charlotte Oduro

Popular Ghanaian counselor, Rev. Charlotte Oduro has reiterated her opinion about divorce and asked that couples should not seek the easy way out when they have issues.

Counselor Charlotte Oduro whose husband announced their divorce recently said all options must be exhausted before a couple quits their marriage.

In a TikTok video, the counselor said she does not support divorce.

“Bible doesn’t love it when we talk about divorce because it comes to destroy the people, or the families involved. That is why the Bible is not in support of divorce. Everybody has the point that they can’t do it again. If it’s possible you can seek help and its workable go for it. If it’s not workable and you need to have life, please it’s better you go for life.”

Charlotte Oduro

The counselor who was in the news recently for the collapse of her marriage said to avoid divorce, single people must choose their partners right before they marry.

“But then if we can make the decisions right now, let’s make it right before we enter marriage. So, I will not support, I will not agree, and I will not talk or teach about divorce.”

She, however, conceded that sometimes divorce is necessary when a life is in danger.

“But then it will come in when lives are going to be lost or where people are going to lose the whole thing because the Bible doesn’t love divorce. Divorce is not a joke. It breaks homes.

“It breaks families and even breaks the church. It breaks the heart of God, so this thing called divorce is not something we should joke about or something we should mock. It is not something we should celebrate. God himself feels hurt about it.”

The renowned Ghanaian marriage counselor made a bold statement regarding the future marital choices of her daughters.

Speaking during a church service, the outspoken relationship expert revealed that she has no intention of allowing either of her two daughters to marry a pastor.

Sparking widespread discussion across social media and religious communities, she declared emphatically, “I have two daughters, and neither of them will marry a pastor.”

Counselor Oduro, who was previously married to a pastor, has frequently spoken about the challenges that come with being a pastor’s wife.

She shared personal experiences detailing the difficulties she faced in her marriage and ministry, making her perspective on the matter particularly significant.

While some have praised her for being realistic about the burdens of pastoral marriage, others argue that discouraging her daughters from marrying pastors may be restricting their choices.

“Please kindly take a break and go on vacation. Heal, rest and be at your normal self because all these are unnecessary. The fact that your expectations were not met doesn’t mean that will be the fate of your children. Divorce can happen.”

Kofy

“This is one thing I hate about some parents. The idea that they can dictate to the children even when they’re old enough to make their own decisions.”

Land Carter IV

“Do you think it is right to project your experience onto your daughters? The fact that it wasn’t a perfect thing for you doesn’t mean it will be the same with them. Wo kasa dodo.”

Harmattan pawpaw

“People like this are not supposed to counsel on marriage, psychologically, morally, and spiritually. Planting your seed of bitterness and experience of a failed marriage/relationship on young people.”

Luca

“Miss Counselor, it’s the father who gives them away in marriage. Unless she’s confirming suspicions that those children are out of wedlock because the 12 out of 16 math doesn’t check out for some. She’s allergic to accountability and is just going to poison the mentality of her kids.”
