Russia Slams Funding Pledges To Ukraine

Russia Vows To Respond To Ukraine Drone Attacks

Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin has decried pledges made by European leaders at the London summit over the weekend to increase funding to Ukraine.

According to the Kremlin, plans to increase funding to Kyiv will not help bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Kremlin Spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov asserted that the funding pledges from European leaders, including a $2bn air-defence missiles deal from Britain, will cause the war to drag on.

Peskov told reporters that this “clearly does not relate to a peace plan” but will allow for “the continuation of hostilities.”

“Any constructive initiatives (for peace) will be in demand now. It’s very important that someone forces Zelenskyy himself to change his position. He doesn’t want peace. Someone must make Zelenskyy want peace.”

Dmitry Peskov

Also, Peskov claimed that Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s clash with US President Donald Trump showed how difficult it will be to reach a settlement on the conflict.

Asked about Zelenskyy’s remarks about not conceding any territory to Russia, Peskov replied that the situation on the ground had changed since the failed Istanbul talks in 2022. “Only a blind person can fail to see this,” he added.

Zelenskyy has asserted that he would not accept giving any occupied territory away to Russia

The Kremlin Spokesperson’s remarks came after world leaders offered a strong show of support to Zelenskyy and promised to do more to help his nation at a summit in London on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer said that the United Kingdom, Ukraine, France and other nations would form a “coalition of the willing” and draw up a peace plan to take to US President Donald Trump.

“We are at a crossroads in history today. This is not a moment for more talk. It’s time to act. Time to step up and lead and to unite around a new plan for a just and enduring peace.”

He did not mention which other nations, but said more countries were willing to join.

In a social media post, Zelenskyy praised “clear support from Europe” and “even more unity.”

“Everyone is united on the main issue – for peace to be real, we need real security guarantees. And this is the position of all of Europe – the entire continent. The United Kingdom, the European Union, Türkiye.

“What we need is peace, not endless war. And that’s why we say security guarantees are the key to this.”

Additionally, Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted a video showing damages sustained from Russian attacks on Ukraine over the last few days, saying that the country “needs strong support from our partners.”

He stressed that Ukraine is fighting for the “normal and safe life it deserves, for a just and reliable peace.”

“We want this war to end. But Russia does not, and continues its aerial terror: over the past week, more than 1,050 attack drones, nearly 1,300 aerial bombs, and more than 20 missiles have been launched at Ukraine to destroy cities and kill people.”

Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy asserted that those who seek negotiations do not deliberately strike civilians with ballistic missiles.

He added that to force Russia to stop its attacks, Ukraine needs greater collective strength from the world.

“Strengthening our air defense, supporting our army, and ensuring effective security guarantees that will make the return of Russian aggression impossible—this is what we must focus on.

“Justice must prevail. We believe in the power of unity, and we will certainly restore lasting peace.”
