Stonebwoy Conquers O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire

Stonebwoy

Ghanaian musician, Stonebwoy, has successfully unpacked the London leg of his ongoing Up and Runnin6 album tour.

On March 8, Stonebwoy took London’s O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire with his compatriots, Fameye and hiplife sensation AraTheJay.

The show’s promotion was controversial, considering claims from Stonebwoy’s camp that Ghanaian show promoters in the diaspora are sabotaging their efforts.

The controversy cast doubts about the potential of the 2k-capacity O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire selling out in favour of Stonebwoy.

About 30 minutes from the dancehall artist’s venue, R2Bees, OliveTheBoy and King Paluta were on the bill for another Independence Day-themed concert powered by Alordia, Akwaaba UK, and West Coast.

Despite the competition, the ‘Into The Future’ hitmaker performed to a full house, with scores of Ghanaian celebrities in attendance.

In a video, Ghanaian football stars, Mohammed Kudus and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku were spotted with Stonebwoy. Mohammed Kudus, the West Ham forward, has been a staunch fan of the dancehall artist.

He once took the ‘Jejereje’ hitmaker to the West Ham stadium for an exclusive match-viewing experience. At the concert, the football stars sat with the dancehall artist’s wife, Dr Louisa Satekla.

Several videos of Dr Louisa in her usual cheerful mode, rattling her husband’s infectious music lyrics from the audience, have surfaced on social media.

After the concert, the artist, his team, and billed talents Fameye and AraTheJay and others gathered for a toast. The musician poured his heart out to Fameye and AraTheJay for supporting him.

He also made a toast to a future with more sold-out music experiences for Ghanaian musicians in foreign markets.

Scenes from the artist’s show stirred reactions from some netizens.

The Ghanaian musician couldn’t hide his emotions as he performed ‘My Name’ to the sold-out audience in the 2k-capacity O2-Sheperd’s Bush Empire.

My Name, released in 2017, is one of the artist’s fan favourites. It chronicles his struggles rising to the top and his unwavering faith in God.

He sat on a stool and solemnly performed the song. The performance was marked with emotional moments in which Stonebwoy appeared to be drying up tears from his eyes.

The video of Stonebwoy performing ‘My Name’ has garnered significant traction on social media. Many fan comments referenced the reported hostility the artist faced in putting up his London show.

While many thought his show, which clashed with another concert headlined by R2Bees, was going to flop, reports indicate that the O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire came alive and was sold in favour of the ‘Jejereje’ hitmaker.

The artist’s performance stirred reactions.

“God Did. Goosebumps whenever I see you perform…..We proud of you Bwoy….We love you❤️❤️❤️.”
