Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist, Jah Lead, has reignited his feud with music producer JMJ, accusing him of blocking his song from streaming platforms and withholding financial proceeds.

Jah Lead claimed that a song he recorded for JMJ’s ‘Riddim of the Gods’ project was unfairly taken down from his Audiomack account.

“I had an issue with JMJ. I still have that issue with him. A song I wrote, by virtue of him playing the beats, has been blocked on my Audiomack. The rightful owner or the copyright owner of the song has authorized it to be blocked.”

He further alleged that despite having more streams on his account for the song ‘Lonely’, JMJ also uploaded the track on his own platforms, promoted it, and later reported Jah Lead’s version to YouTube, leading to its removal. “After I did my investigations, I got to know he had pitched the work, including his other songs on the album, to Boomplay and taken money,” he claimed.

When asked if the issue could be resolved, Jah Lead expressed frustration, stating that JMJ has refused to communicate with him. “I think he’s become more egoistic, not responding to communication,” he said.

He then issued a warning to JMJ, vowing to confront him physically.

“He should dare not think he’s older than me because he’s my age mate. That’s why I’ll talk to him like my age mate. I told him when the time comes, I’ll meet him on the street and beat him mercilessly. I want people to talk about it because I’ll face him like a man.”

Meanwhile, Jah Lead has released a new song titled ‘Hand of Jah’, which he says allows him to express himself freely.

His song ‘Lonely’ was featured on JMJ’s ‘Riddim of the Gods’ project, which was released in 2020.

The musician, who had been living in Germany, disclosed that he had been away from the public eye for over a year and a half, struggling to come to terms with her passing.

“I was going through depression, but thanks to God, I have found my feet again. At some point, I thought I would stop singing because of how much it affected me.”

Contrary to reports that the late Nana Ekua Essel was his wife, Jah Lead has clarified that she was his baby mama whom he shares a son with.

He explained that his wife is still alive and resides in Ghana. However, he admitted that his extramarital affair caused significant turmoil in his family, and he took full responsibility for the consequences.

The most painful part of her passing, he said, was that he was not in the country when it happened and she was nursing their five-month-old son.

While he remains reluctant to speak extensively on the matter, he hinted that his upcoming highlife album will capture his emotions and experiences surrounding the tragedy.

The power of Jah Lead’s story lies in its universality. Humans face moments of hardship where it feels like the weight of the world is upon them.

His triumph not only rejuvenates his career but also offers hope and inspiration to countless others who may be navigating their own battles.
