Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown, has shared insights into her parenting philosophy.

In a viral video, she emphasised her strict rules regarding technology use, explaining that her children are only permitted to use their phones on weekends.

This decision stems from her desire to foster a sense of responsibility and independence in them as they grow into adulthood.

“I am Leo, August 15. I look at things towards them before I move. The reason is that I have raised lots of children with my five children. My husband has two children, and I raised them at ages three and four. Now they are fifteen and sixteen. My sister’s and brother’s children.

“Before I had Maxin, my children would say, You see your bed, mummy is coming. You see the way your room is untidy, mummy is coming oh.”

Nana Ama McBrown articulated the importance of maintaining a positive public image, stating that as a celebrity, criticism of her parenting choices can be particularly harsh.

The 47-year-old actress explained her structured schedule, noting that she is typically free on Mondays. This allows her to dedicate quality time to her children, including Maxin and her adopted daughter, ensuring they feel her presence and guidance.

“One thing I do is that I am very strict. It is logic. When you wake up, go to the washroom to brush your teeth, and if possible, bathe, and we come downstairs. If we have to do something, then we do it.

“All my children have mobile phones, but I take the phones on Sundays at 6 pm and give it to them on Friday at 6 pm. That is the rule in my house. My boy is at Adisadel, my first girl is at Aburi Girls, my second girl is at Holy Child, and the third girl is finishing Junior High School this year.”

The Ghanaian actress and media personality opened up about rumours linking her success to black magic (juju), revealing that some people in the creative arts industry believe her rise to fame is not purely based on talent and hard work.

Nana Ama McBrown addressed the persistent criticisms and baseless accusations that have followed her career. Despite the negativity, she says she harbours no resentment towards those spreading such claims.

“Even now, people still say some things to me, and I look and forgive them. Now they are telling me I work with juju because I am doing well.”

Nana Ama McBrown

The award-winning actress dismissed the claims, attributing her achievements to years of training, dedication, and an intentional approach to her craft.

She explained that although her entry into the acting scene may have seemed sudden, her journey was far from effortless.

“My entering into acting was kind of fast. But they don’t know where I started from… I am a perfectionist because I have to leave my mark. And before I leave, the mark will always be there for people to talk about it. I am very intentional about the things I do.”

Despite the rumours, she continues to focus on perfecting her craft and inspiring the next generation of creatives.

Moreover, Nana Ama McBrown stated that she is still developing and that most businesses would prefer to collaborate with up-and-coming talent in the entertainment sector.

In order to become a household name, she decided to become a serial entrepreneur and utilize her notoriety to promote her goods and services.
