Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty Adorye, has revealed her enchanting love story in a live video session, captivating her audience with the details of her romance.
The charismatic UTV presenter shared that her husband, Hopeson Adorye, made a significant move just three weeks after their initial meeting at a mutual friend’s father’s funeral, where their journey began.
During their brief but meaningful conversation at the funeral, they exchanged contact, laying the foundation for what would soon become a deep connection.
Empress Gifty explained that within weeks of their first encounter, Hopeson surprised her with a brand new car, symbolising his affection and intentions. However, she noted that her late mother’s guidance played a crucial role during this early stage of their relationship.
“When he gave me the car, I took it home and told my mother. I also told her I was interested in marriage, not just dating. My mother told me clearly, ‘If it’s marriage you want, return the car.’ I listened to her advice.”

She revealed that her decision to return the car turned out to be a turning point in their relationship.
“Just two days after returning the car, he came to my house and asked for my hand in marriage. That’s when we proceeded with the traditional ceremony.”

Reflecting on this whirlwind romance, Empress Gifty emphasised the significance of prioritising emotional bonds and shared aspirations over material possessions. “Sometimes, when you meet someone, don’t let material things cloud your judgment. Focus on building a future together,” she said.
Hopeson Adorye, who was wife his wife on the live video session, also shared his ordeal with friends after their abrupt marriage.
“After our traditional marriage, people kept asking me if I was mad. They couldn’t believe I had married someone just three weeks after meeting her.”

He mentioned that he initially hesitated upon noticing she was wearing a ring. “After the event, I told her to follow me because I had a gift in the car, but she didn’t follow me,” he added.

The award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician responded to televangelist Agradaa’s latest rants aimed at her and her husband, Hopeson Adorye.
In a video shared on her official Instagram page, the ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker clapped back at Agradaa, with whom she feuded in 2024.
She sarcastically claimed that she and her husband were tired of Agradaa’s allegations against her and that she needed to bring out new allegations.
The gospel musician teased the televangelist, stating that she needed to remove the filters she normally applied to her videos on social media.
Empress Gifty, who recently won the maiden Traditional Gospel Song of the Year at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, also claimed that Agradaa was depressed and was lashing out at her and her husband, Hopeson Adorye, as a result.
The singer’s remarks come after Agradaa slammed Hopeson Adorye over his recent remarks about her amid the controversy over the $800 gift she recently received from the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi.
In a recent TikTok video, the controversial televangelist responded to Empress Gifty’s husband’s threat to have her arrested and prosecuted if she ever spoke about him and his wife in public.
The Heaven Way Church founder also threatened to have Hopeson Adorye arrested and prosecuted if he continued to go on media platforms to speak about her.
