Ghanaian gospel singer, Empress Gifty, has called out pharmaceutical company Ernest Chemist over its use of her late mother in a commercial.
Speaking in a TikTok live video, Empress Gifty disclosed that she wasn’t informed when they were mounting another billboard after her mother’s demise.
According to her, she bought all the drugs and drips from Ernest Chemist when her late mother was admitted at the hospital.
“The woman you used on your billboard is dead, but I wasn’t informed before using her picture. She wasn’t just buried after her demise, there was a proper funeral arrangement. I don’t need your money for anything, but it’s appropriate because you’ve worked with her before, you’ve used her pictures on your billboard nationwide. After her demise, you mount another billboard with her picture.
“When my mother was admitted at the hospital, I bought all the drugs and drips prescribed from Ernest Chemist. I bought drugs every week. The lady at the counter asked me if one person was taking all the drugs, and I intentionally told her that the woman they used on their billboard was the one taking the drugs, and I paid for everything fully.”

The award-winning gospel artist further called out the pharmaceutical company to do the right thing by showing proof that they still have a contract with her late mother.
“Ernest Chemist, do the right thing, put some respect on my mother’s name. Bring the contract you had with my mother for confirmation. It’s been four months, and I’ve just kept mute.”
