Ghanaian influencer, Ama Gisela, has revealed that she left the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast because the producers failed to protect her.

Gisela, who co-hosted the second season of the show alongside her best friend Ama Borland and socialite Efia Odo, said she felt unprotected and used by the show’s producers, Glitch Africa. She explained that the environment on the podcast became toxic for her.

She said she felt exposed and unprotected by the production team and decided to leave for the sake of her peace of mind.

“There was just too much drama, and I wasn’t feeling protected by the producers. They put me out there to be pounced on by predators. I felt I was set up a lot.”

Gisela

According to her, there were moments when she tried to take control of certain situations, but the producer didn’t allow her to.

“There were a few times I tried to control certain situations, and they won’t let me. To me, it seems what they cared about was the views; they didn’t care about the mental health or the people on the show, so I was like, you know what, I don’t even need them.”

The Ghanaian influencer also gave specific examples of moments when she felt disrespected. One such incident happened during an episode that discussed galamsey and protests.

She recalled being criticized online for scratching her leg, something she considered normal, only to realize that the producers had zoomed the camera in on that exact moment. “I’m a human being, I will itch, and they zoomed into that bit,” she explained.

She also shared another incident where she and Ama Burland were gossiping about someone on set.

However, Gisela noted that she whispered the person’s name, but the camera zoomed in on her mouth, making it easy for viewers to read her lips and identify the person they were talking about.

The social media influencer and former podcast co-host shared interesting details about her experience on the ‘Rants, Bants, and Confessions’ podcast.

She alleged that the show’s producers intentionally paid bloggers to post negative commentary about the hosts. According to her, their goal was just to spark controversy and drive attention to the podcast. Gisela made these claims with her best friend, Ama Burland.

“One thing that got to me was, I get it, you have to promote your show and all of that, I don’t know if you believe in the personalities, you are putting on the show, that’s one thing but to pay bloggers who intentionally insult them for them to trend is another thing.”

Gisela

The influencer explained that after she and Ama Burland became suspicious of the pattern of attacks and they confronted the producers directly. However, the production team denied the accusations.

Despite the denial, Gisela noted that a particular blogger, who consistently targeted one of the co-hosts with harsh criticism and personal insults, always appeared to have access to insider information about the show.

“After we found out about that, I just felt very out of place. I felt these people didn’t care about me because how do you lie to your people and say that no you’re not paying anyone, especially when I draw your attention to it that this person keeps attacking one particular co-host, keeps insulting her, calling her all sorts of names, and you people claim you are not paying anybody like that to promote the podcast.

“We later came to find out that this same person comes to announce we are leaving the podcast, it doesn’t make sense because who else will tell the person and also how does this person even get the first trailers before we even have it.”
