Honeho Reveals Current State of Praye

Praye Honeho

Praye Honeho, also known as Choirmaster, has revealed why he formed a group in Australia while discussing the current state of the Hip-Hop trio Praye.

According to the singer, it got to a point where they had a little misunderstanding, stating that the group was halted due to that.

“But later on, we came together and performed at music awards [shows], just to let the people know whatever differences were there had been sorted and amended. For now, there’s no issue.”

Praye Honeho

He underlined the group and its members had been recognised by the public as “legends, meaning the songs and what we have done before are there, and are still going to be there [for years to come],” and indicated, “if anyone could afford [to sponsor] the group,” getting it active again “was no problem at all”.

He said the group members were in communication, but not constantly. “We don’t talk often, by we have spoken before,” he said about his relationship with Tintin, for instance.

“He went to the UK for some time, so we lost his contact, so I think it’s been a while [since we last spoke]. Since I travelled, and given his schedule, we haven’t spoken much, but we talk.”

He added that although Tietia knew he was in Ghana, and they had yet to speak, they would meet up.

“We’ve grown up, we’re all handling our businesses. It’s not as it used to be when we all lived in one house. We had our own set of friends individually. Even though we were in a group, we had the business side, we all had our own friends.”

According to him, he could not attend Tietia’s wedding in 2015, because he “was not in town” and “along the way, also, I went to Australia to play a festival – Adelaide Fringe festival. That kept me away in Australia for a while”.

He admitted, apart from that, however, “the misunderstanding was deep at that time” and “the communication was very slow”.

On forming a new group in Australia, he explained it was impossible to play a festival without the backing of a group of live musicians.

“They don’t mime there. The kind of festival I went to play demanded a live performance in every aspect. I had to gather some Ghanaian instrumentalists, local to the place, who knew how the terrain was. That’s why I formed the group in Australia.”

The former member of the now-defunct music group Praye, Honeho, stirred fresh controversy by pointing fingers at their ex-manager, Kiki Banson, as the one who contributed to the group’s collapse.

Choirmaster didn’t mince words, stating outright that, “Kiki is the reason behind the group’s downfall.”

According to him, the group, which once enjoyed massive popularity and hit songs, started declining after they teamed up with Kiki—someone they had believed would elevate their career to new heights.

“We were already vibrant and doing well before Kiki came into the picture. We had high hopes that he could help push us further, but honestly, it was a total disappointment. He didn’t do anything substantial to help us stay afloat.”

Describing Banson’s role as underwhelming, Honeho expressed frustration that someone they trusted with their brand failed to deliver. “That’s how I feel—he didn’t give his best to the group when we needed him most,” he added.

Praye, made up of Praye Tietia, Praye Honeho (Choirmaster), and Praye Tenten, was once one of Ghana’s most celebrated music trios, with hits like ‘Angelina’ and ‘Shody’. Their split shocked many fans and left questions that still linger in the minds of loyal followers.

While Kiki Banson is known in the industry for his role in managing other successful acts, including Becca, Choirmaster’s comments suggest not all professional partnerships yield the desired results.

So far, Kiki Banson has not responded publicly to the allegations.
