Gospel musician Piesie Esther has dismissed speculations that she is not on good terms with ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker Empress Gifty.

Concerns about their relationship arose after an interview. During the show, the host asked Piesie to mention who won Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA. It took some persuasion before she eventually mentioned Empress Gifty’s name.

When asked if she had congratulated Empress on her award, Piesie responded that nobody had congratulated her when she won Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards Europe in 2023.

This response triggered conversations on social media, with some suggesting there might be tension between the two gospel musicians.

However, speaking recently, Piesie clarified that there was no problem between them.

“The reason I didn’t want to mention the Empress’s name on Agyeman’s show was that when she won the award, people said a lot about it. Some said she deserved it; others said otherwise. By God’s grace, the controversy died down, so the moment you raise it again, then you want it to escalate. That was why I didn’t want to bring her into the conversation.
“I don’t have any problem with Empress Gifty. I don’t know anyone who can boldly say I have an issue with him or her. It will not happen. I have a good relationship with Gifty. We talk.”

Meanwhile, Piesie Esther has released a new song titled ‘Nyame Ye’, which is already winning the hearts of music lovers.

In recent times, one of the hot debates in the music space has been whether gospel musicians should collaborate with secular artists.

While some argue that it taints the ministry of the gospel, others believe music is universal and there’s nothing wrong with such partnerships.

Adding her voice to the conversation, award-winning gospel singer Piesie Esther emphatically stated that she sees nothing wrong with gospel artists working with their secular counterparts.

The gospel star explained that a secular musician writing for or collaborating with a gospel artist does not take away from the purpose of the song. To her, what matters is the message and impact.

She used her latest project, ‘Nyame Ye’, as an example, highlighting how highlife singer Kuami Eugene played a key role in its creation.

According to Piesie Esther, Kuami Eugene not only helped with the lyrics but also worked on the beats, sounds, and arrangement, which shaped the beauty of the song.

“When you work with him, you won’t notice a difference that he’s a secular musician and you are a gospel singer. He loves God and God’s work, you know. I talk to him, and you will see that he has God at heart. So far as the song he’s written can win a soul for Christ and promote the kingdom, he deserves all the accolades.”

According to her, Kuami Eugene worked with her seamlessly, both in Ghana and during his international travels, proving his dedication to the craft. “That’s when I realised that music writing is not about just talent; it comes with its own special grace,” she added.

Piesie Esther further praised Kuami Eugene’s dedication, recalling how he went all out to ensure the production came out excellently.

She revealed that after listening to the final output, she was overwhelmed with satisfaction. “He did so well and went all out to make sure the song was nice. He really outdid himself for me,” she added.

Kuami Eugene, who has written for several gospel singers, including Joyce Blessing, Empress Gifty, and Piesie Esther herself, continues to show versatility across genres. For Piesie Esther, collaborations like these should not be frowned upon but rather celebrated if the result glorifies God.
