Ghanaian actress and singer Yaa Jackson has made it clear that motherhood will not change her bold approach to fashion and self-expression.

The “Ehwe Papa” hitmaker addressed critics who have questioned her provocative style since becoming a parent.

Yaa Jackson, known for her unapologetic personality and eye-catching social media presence, explained that becoming a mother has not diminished her confidence or desire to dress as she pleases.

“I feel like I’m an adult. I make decisions on my own, decisions that feel authentic to me. Whatever I post online doesn’t affect my role as a parent. It’s up to me to raise my child to become a better person.”

The singer went on to highlight the distinction she draws between her public persona and her private life as a mother.“When the cameras are off and I’m off social media, I make sure to do my best to raise him to become a good man someday. That’s what truly matters. Whatever people think is none of my business,”she added.

Addressing concerns about the potential impact of her online images on her son’s future, the singer was resolute.

“Even if it’s not my pictures, he’ll grow up and see many more like them. I see nothing wrong with that. Why not? He will know his mum is sexy. He’ll also know that at home, I don’t dress like that. That’s for social media, and I’m an artiste. This is what people know me for; it’s what I portray. But I also have a personal life.”

The actress also disclosed that her family, particularly her father, is unbothered by her online image, emphasizing that her choices are a conscious part of her brand as an entertainer.

“My dad advises me, but he knows how I am. He knows that on a normal day, I wouldn’t expose my body in public. I only take pictures or videos like that, then undress and wear something else. He knows I wouldn’t wear revealing clothes out there.”

The young star, who rose to fame as a child actress before transitioning into music, continues to spark conversation with her fearless approach to both motherhood and artistry.

Her message to critics is unambiguous: personal authenticity and professional branding can coexist, and motherhood does not mean sacrificing one’s individuality.

Veteran Ghanaian filmmaker, Jackson K. Bentum, commented on the public backlash targeting his daughter, Yaa Jackson, for her fashion choices.

Mr Bentum addressed the growing criticism and offered a defence of his daughter.

He argued that Yaa Jackson, now an adult and a thriving music artist, has every right to express herself through her wardrobe. He believes the outrage over her style stems from a lack of understanding about the entertainment business.

“Because I am in the entertainment industry, I perfectly understand what is going on. I know most people don’t understand what is going on because they are not in the entertainment industry.”

He pointed out that Yaa’s outfit choices are directly tied to her role in the secular music scene and that it would be unrealistic to expect her to dress conservatively for such a career.

“Moreover, she doesn’t sing gospel songs and she can’t wear ‘kaba’ to shoot a music video. So, people should understand her. She is a shy person and I was surprised when I got to hear she is now singing.”

Bentum also addressed the misconception that Yaa’s social media appearances reflect her day-to-day lifestyle. He clarified that many of her outfits seen online are worn for commercial purposes. “But if you see her wearing those dresses in town, that is when you can call and tell me she is badly dressed. Apart from that, I don’t see anything wrong with her dress,” Yaa Jackson’s father further stated.
