Singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has paid tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, describing him as a “legend” in a short post that stirred strong reactions from fans and colleagues.
The emotional message was posted via his official X account. The singer wrote, “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND!!”
This is one of the few times the singer has publicly addressed the loss since the tragic incident in 2022.
Ifeanyi, Davido’s first son with wife Chioma Rowland, died on October 31, 2022, shocking the nation and breaking hearts across the globe.
The toddler reportedly drowned in the swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island mansion in Lagos, just days after celebrating his third birthday on October 20.
The death shocked the entertainment industry and left fans heartbroken.
Davido’s tribute marks another moment of public remembrance for the young boy, whom the singer has previously referred to as his “greatest gift.”
The tweet has since sparked a wave of condolence messages and emotional reactions from fans, celebrities, and well-wishers across the globe.
One verified user, @bigHotbaby1, wrote, “May his sweet soul continue to RIP. We love you Ifeanyi Adeleke,” alongside a crying emoji and a heart.
Another fan, @mrsam_akp, simply said, “RIP :sparkles::sparkles:”
A verified user @SosaOfTogo also posted a heart-wrenching black-and-white photo of the Afrobeats star cuddling Ifeanyi, which also went viral.
Since the incident, Davido and his partner, Chioma, have largely maintained a private stance regarding their grief, only occasionally opening up in interviews and social media posts.
Davido Reacts After Wizkid “Biggest” Claim

Afrobeats musicians Wizkid and Davido have subtly renewed their long-running feud on the social media platform X (previously Twitter).
Wizkid made a post claiming that he was the “Biggest 🦅”, hence the best in the Nigerian music industry.
Shortly after, Davido responded with a satirical message, mimicking Wizkid’s tweet and saying, “For your parlour.” He then shared a link detailing his professional accomplishments, reaffirming his domination in the business.
In another post, Davido said, “I need a cane,” a cryptic statement that has sparked a variety of interpretations among fans and followers.
It was reported that Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, shared details of what he thought about his colleague Davido and competing with him.
This was after Wizkid, in a series of new tweets, lambasted his perceived rival Davido, for the latest single he teased and gave him a new name, “Frogido.” This came after the former DMW executive hinted at sharing some juicy news with his fans via his Twitter page.
His post caused backlash from naysayers as it collided with that of his industry rival Wizkid, who also planned to release new music on October 1, 2024. The ‘Superstar’ crooner also explained why he doesn’t see Davido as a competition.
CDQ on Turning Down Davido Deal

Popular Nigerian rapper, CDQ, revealed that Afrobeats star Davido once offered him a recording deal, but he turned it down.
He explained that following the success of his breakthrough single ‘Indomie’, the Afrobeats star wanted to sign him to his record label, but his (CDQ’s) producer, Masterkraft, opted for a partnership instead, which the DMW boss declined.
“Davido reached out to me through Twitter back then, saying that he wanted to sign me. He told me he just made a lot of money from his African tour and wanted to invest it in money and make me the biggest rapper in Africa.
“I told him that whatever I’m doing, Masterkraft has to be involved. So, Masterkraft and I went to a meeting with him, and he told him that CDQ is already a movement on the streets and should consider a partnership instead of a recording deal, but Davido declined and the deal fell through.”
