Standard Bank Group, the parent company of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, has emerged as the biggest winner at the 2025 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, clinching 26 prestigious accolades across its African footprint.
The awards, one of the most coveted in global finance, reaffirm Standard Bank’s status as the continent’s leading financial services institution—and spotlight Stanbic Ghana’s growing role in that success story.
Hosted in London, the 2025 Euromoney Awards recognized Standard Bank’s excellence in key categories including corporate and investment banking (CIB), customer experience, SME banking, and corporate responsibility. Notably, the Group was crowned Africa’s Best Bank, Africa’s Best Investment Bank, and Africa’s Best Bank for Large Corporates, underscoring its influence across every level of the financial services spectrum.
Of particular note was the 18 CIB-related awards, a strong affirmation of the bank’s performance in strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology.
“Our deep sector expertise and strong client relationships, where we offer strategic insight, capital solutions, or trusted advice, has positioned us to lead in landmark transactions,” said Luvuyo Masinda, Chief Executive of Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank.
Stanbic Ghana: Ghana’s Best Investment Bank
In Ghana, Stanbic Bank emerged as the Best Investment Bank, a significant achievement that reflects the bank’s unmatched capabilities in structured finance, equity and debt capital markets, and strategic advisory services. The accolade is a vote of confidence in Stanbic Ghana’s ability to deliver world-class financial solutions while remaining attuned to the unique needs of the Ghanaian market.
This recognition also aligns with Ghana’s broader economic objectives, especially as the country ramps up investment in infrastructure, energy transition, and technological innovation. Stanbic’s work in these spaces is not only helping businesses grow but also contributing meaningfully to national development.
“Stanbic Ghana’s win highlights the bank’s leadership in delivering innovative capital market solutions and driving the country’s economic transformation,” said a spokesperson from Euromoney.
At the core of Standard Bank’s philosophy is a powerful mission statement: “Africa is our home, we drive her growth.” The Group’s consistent performance across various African markets speaks to this purpose. Beyond Ghana, the bank received top honors in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and others.
By aligning financial solutions with Africa’s developmental priorities, Standard Bank continues to be an enabler of transformative projects—whether through financing clean energy initiatives or advising governments and corporates on mega infrastructure deals.
“We are uniquely positioned to capture the immense opportunities ahead while delivering strong returns for our shareholders and positive impact for our clients and the communities we serve,” said Sim Tshabalala, Chief Executive of Standard Bank Group.
One of the driving forces behind Standard Bank’s award-winning performance is its focus on high-growth sectors and continued investment in data, analytics, and talent development. From expanding its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Debt Capital Markets (DCM) capabilities to investing in the next generation of investment bankers, the Group is preparing itself—and the continent—for a digital and financially inclusive future.
