United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana has taken another giant leap in its commitment to digital innovation and customer satisfaction by enabling customers to load their prepaid cards directly from their Mobile Money (MoMo) wallets.

This groundbreaking service is set to revolutionize the way customers interact with their prepaid cards, offering them speed, flexibility, and unmatched convenience.

Speaking on the new development, Uzoechina Molokwu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Ghana, highlighted the bank’s unwavering focus on customer-centered solutions.

“At UBA, we are committed to providing simple, secure, and innovative ways to banking. Introducing Mobile Money as a source of funding for the prepaid card creates flexibility, convenience and control for the customer using their mobile device.”

With this service, all UBA prepaid card users can instantly load their Ghana cedi-denominated cards from their MoMo wallets. This seamless integration eliminates the need for lengthy bank visits or ATM deposits, giving customers the ability to fund their cards on-the-go. Whether they are shopping online, paying for goods in-store, or accessing global Visa-enabled services, UBA’s prepaid cardholders now have direct control of their finances at their fingertips.

The innovation also strengthens UBA Ghana’s digital payments ecosystem, ensuring that customers experience faster and more reliable transactions. By leveraging the widespread use of MoMo in Ghana, UBA is bridging the gap between traditional banking and mobile financial technology.

Empowering Customers with Global Access

The enhanced prepaid card services are not just about convenience—they open up global opportunities. With UBA prepaid cards, customers can engage in online shopping, pay in-store at Visa-supported outlets worldwide, and even access global payment portals. Now, with MoMo integration, customers can enjoy the full benefits of a globally recognized payment system without worrying about funding hurdles.

This initiative also aligns with UBA’s vision of creating a more connected and cashless Africa. By combining its banking expertise with digital innovation, the bank is positioning itself as a leader in the financial inclusion space.

Financial inclusion remains a key priority for UBA Ghana, and this innovation is proof of the bank’s dedication to empowering more Ghanaians to access formal financial services. The MoMo-to-prepaid integration ensures that both urban and rural customers, regardless of their proximity to a bank branch, can easily fund their cards.

For many customers who rely heavily on mobile wallets for daily transactions, the prepaid card becomes a powerful extension of their financial toolkit. It brings the security of card payments, the flexibility of MoMo, and the accessibility of global financial platforms into one integrated solution.

In addition to convenience, UBA has placed strong emphasis on security. The prepaid card services come with advanced security protocols that protect users against fraud and unauthorized transactions. By encouraging customers to shift from cash to cashless payments, UBA is not only ensuring safer transactions but also contributing to Ghana’s broader agenda of becoming a digital economy.

Cashless payments are fast becoming the norm in Ghana, and with UBA’s prepaid card innovation, customers can enjoy the freedom of secure, borderless, and cashless transactions anytime, anywhere.

By empowering customers with simple, secure, and innovative financial solutions, UBA is setting new standards in customer experience.

As the bank continues to expand its digital footprint, customers can expect more cutting-edge solutions that blend traditional banking strengths with modern technological convenience.
